First off to say before I begin this review, I was a little...wasted last night and I wrote a jacked up review, so excuse me for that. It's deleted now.

Now, I have escaped the year of the 90's, for a moment, and I have decided to go back to the year of 1984 to one of the greatest movies to ever come out during that decade, A Nightmare On Elm Street.

The movie follows a group of teens who are being stalked and tormented by a severly burnt man in their dreams. After one of the friends dies, the other's set out to find out who and what this person could be.

Now this happens to be one of my favorites. It really creeped me out, seriously, mainly these two scene's: The one when he's walking down the alley and his arms expand about two feet long and the blood coming out of the bed scene, whoa.

I also liked the acting done by our leads, especially freddy himself, which I believe made Robert England who he is now. Now this movie stands a little bit above all the other slasher films of the 80's, because it is original and it wasn't just about some teens getting high or going into the woods getting their heads chopped off, it was put into a real life perspective, dreams, and I think that what really makes the movie. The is works as a supernatural slasher, which nowadays is hard to do with some movies. Wes is a genius at what he does (scream).

On the other hand, the movie only has two faults, the fact that they didn't simply use with some specific background info on freddy, I know the woman told us what happened to him, but I really wanted to know more. The second would be the lack of gore, but we don't get some bloody scenes. So I think an 8 suits this best.

Agreed with this review....8. I also would have liked to know more about Freddy. This was one of the first horror movies I saw as a kid. It holds fond memories.

I personally would have liked to have read your wasted version of this review.

I really liked this movie for what it was but still i would liked to have known what was the deal with him and what made him become a crazed killer and what drove him to that point before the parents set him on fire.:hmmm:

I like the movie but i dont think its the best thing to come out in the 80's. And Englund hasnt really done anything insane, hes usually just a cameo or small part. So imo i dont think his career rocketed because of this movie. Yeah hes been in a ton of movies, but nothing HUGE. So all in all, like the movie, think its a classic, but not the best thing out of the 80's.

Theres my opinion, so dont feel like arguing it.

this is my all time fav, I remember when i first watched it, i was about 6, I snuck it in with my father's Video rentals when we were at the video shop, He didnt have a clue, nor did i really the front cover looked cool and i was always a pretty morbid kid.............When i watched it, not that i could really grasp the whole concept at that age but it gave me nightmares for months, Moving on from that i was over a friends house when i was about 8 and we found a copy of Nightmare on Elm street 3 in his parents stash.........Jebus that kept me awake at night for months again.

I dont recall any other horror movie having an effect on me even close to nightmare on elm street 1 & 3 except for the First Candyman Movie, that freaked me out a bit when i first watched that.

Easily one of my favorites. The Johnny Depp bed scene cannot be topped.

9/10.

Eh, I gotta amit the flick was just okay. Freddy Krueger himself is awesome, but the flick itself was bland IMO. It tried to be scary when it wasn't, and the ending made no sense. Though, the bed scene is hilarious. Where else can you find Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp being eaten and then regurgitated by a bed? I liked parts 2 and 4 more.

Decent review although I forget Craven directed Scream and remember him for directing A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Freddy is like the Frank Sinatra of horror movies;
he's dead but everyone still know him!
