Well I decided to take a break and clear my head for a moment, not just from writing reviews but from a lot of other things as well.

So after clearing my head, I was thinking about what movie do I want to review next. I searched through my mind and I found a gem, Candyman. Now this happen's to be one of my favorite movies, and I'm going to explain why, but first let's get down to business.

Now the story centers around a couple of graduate students who go into a housing project in Chicago to find the truth behind an urban mythology about a man named the Candyman, who they claim are stalking amd killing people in the housing project. It's said that if you call his name in the mirror 3 or 5 times that he will appear and kill the person who doesn't believe in him, because if you believe in him you won't call his name. So one of the students decides to take the investigation much further(as usual) and call his name, getting more than what she asked for in the end.

Now first off, I have to say that this movie scared the hell out of me, as a child and now as a young adult. I mean it's not like Jason or Michael, who put on a mask and just start slashing people, they put it into a real life prospect, calling his name in the mirror which we look into everyday.

Not only that but the fact that Tony Todd gives us a wonderful and creepy performance playing the Cadyman. I mean he brings life into this character making the Candyman one of the most inconic monsters to ever appear on screen, IMO.

Clive Barker created the character and Bernard Rose directed the movie, very beautifully if you ask me. The acting is great by Virginia Masden and others, I also like the fact that the movie didn't need a whole bunch of gore to please you, which is hard to do in some cases. About the gore, I don't recall their being any, at least In my opinion. I also liked the fact that the film had some good scares, not no of this BOO shit that we are getting, some actually original scares and good atmosphere.

Now this is a classic in my book. I really liked this flick but it does have it's faults, 1) I wanted to know more about the Candyman 2) I felt that it was a little slow. To me the ending was decent and creepy but many were disappointed because it confused them, especially when the sequel came out, so I give this movie an 8 for Tony Todd's performance and for the good scares.

I liked Candyman, it's a great concept, and interesting story...though I think you might need to go back and watch this again Prince. You're missing one of the key elements of the film there, the involvement of Virginia in the killings and her gradual decline into insanity and obsession with the Candyman.

The film dives from realty into a "dream-like" relm. There was some good gore in it for a 90s theatrical horror, though not taken over the top. The setting of the slums asigns a more dreary mood to the entire film than any of the killings can.

I still want to know who cast Ted Raimi (the nerdiest man alive) in the role of the "badass" boyfriend of the girl in the begining of the flick...best decision ever.

8/10

I liked this movie, but I don't think it needs all those sequels.

Sequels usually suck. Candyman is one of my favorite movies. It's truly creepy. More importantly, Virginia Madsen is really hot.

I liked it. Some parts filmed in Chicago. Always a plus. Virgina Madsen is from here. And her brother Micheal Madson is awesome!

If you guys like Candyman, you should check out Nite Tales... Tony Todd is in that too, and he plays a creepy clown. I mean really creepy. He asks these people if he can use their phone in the middle of a downpour, and then he hangs out with them a while. You know, just long enough to become a murder suspect.
