Craig Snubs Thor
21 October 2008 4:57 AM, PDT

James Bond star Daniel Craig has turned down the chance to portray Marvel superhero Thor on the big screen.

The actor was one of the movie producers' favourites to play the blond-haired, hammer-wielding Norse warrior, in director Kenneth Branagh's film adaptation of the comic.

But Craig snubbed the offer, claiming it would be "too much of a power-trip" to play both 007 and Thor.

Thor is due for release in 2010.

Good. I couldn't see him playing Thor anyhow. It'll be interesting to see how they present Thor. The character is quite unique compared to others like Iron Man or The Cap.

They will will never outdo the casting for Downey Jr. in Iron Man, and I don't see a tall Englishman to play a massive norse god (please lord, not Karl Urban)

I don't care how long Triple H's hair is or how many times he's used a sledgehammer, I don't want to see him in a movie alongside Robert Downey Jr., Ed Norton, and possibly Don Cheadle. Pick a real actor, Marvel. You struck gold with RDJr and Norton. Don't screw it up.

Sorry, buts rare that a wresler is a good actor, The Rock has done good, I like some of his movies, but any other wresler hasn't made a decent enough movie IMO. I'm not sure who could pull off Thor though

I'm so sick of this "HHH should play thor" crap I keep hearing everytime I turn around when Thor is the topic of discussion. Yes the guy is big and has long blonde hair, but he can't act for shit. If you want a shitty actor to play the part just because he has long blonde hair thats your deal. Me? I want someone who can actually pull off the role.

And for Daniel Craig? Yeah I like the guy, he's a good actor and I dig him a lot more as Bond than I thought I was going to, but he doesn't scream Thor to me. So I think its ok he turned down the role. Maybe Gerard Butler if he can do a different accent, I don't think I've seen him attempt one though. I think maybe also Karl Urban could do it. Friend of mine brought up Vladimir Kulich from 13th Warriors as a possiblity. I think thats not a bad idea at all.

And I know theres a lot of anti-brad pitt people, but I think he could be right for it. His work in Troy convinced me of that. I dont think he'd be a bad Captain America either. I wish Neal McDonough was younger, he coulda been a great captain america.

I just meant he had the right look. Brad Pitt does not have the right body type to play Thor..imo
