Great anime, it'll be interesting to see how they pull it off. Hopefully it'll be similar to Shinobi: Heart Under Blade and less like the horrible-looking Dragon Ball Z movie :die:
Alex Tse has been tapped to write "Ninja Scroll," Warners' adaptation of the classic Japanese anime feature. Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way is producing along with Madhouse Pictures and Jungo Maruta.
Tse is no stranger to adult fantasy; he's the co-writer of Warners' "Watchmen," Zach Snyder's upcoming R-rated take on the dark, mature-themed Alan Moore comic miniseries with its serious treatment of superheroes.

To be honest every live action anime I have seen has been horrible when compared to the original anime.

A live-action Ninja Scroll would HAVE to be with Japanese actors. I mean, it DOES take place in feudal Japan, and if Jubei was played by a white dude, it'd be fucked up. Now, if they Ron Perlman as the rock demon guy who raped the poison chick, then okay. It's been a while since I've seen it and I can't remember his name.

Either way, being an American production the leads would have to be non-Japanese actors; most likely American. In most of these adaptations or remakes from foreign features, studios feel there needs to be a lead the audience can relate more to and will hope to garner a wider audience :shrugs:

If I were to make a Live Action version. I definitely cast idina Menzel.

You may have heard of her from Wicked or Rent. But trust me I wouldnt have her sing. Fine actress, terrible singer. Especially her song about a Trap being set.
No tits, no awsome ninja moves like in the anime, taking things to become overly exaggerated for American viewers, shitty storyline.
That's all it's ever going to be unless they find a more responsible filmmaker that stays more true to the story than when some shitty writers and directors are randomly picked out and given a chance to write something that'll keep them from juggling their balls for attention to prove that they can do something.
If there should be anyone that makes a good anime-to-america-cinema it should be the Wachowski Brothers. Now before you bash me with "Are you kidding me? Have you seen how shitty they made Speed Racer!?" arguments, just think about it. They can sure as hell do a lot more of a better job on make Ninja Scroll a better movie because they follow all the rules to how the characters were created to be and can really do just the same, they can make the action sequences just as great from the anime, they can do it without breaking a sweat because if they had seen Ninja Scroll they know how to do it.
Though like what Frightie said, the problem still remains on how the main characters will be completely portrayed by actors and actresses that SHOULD be the ones to take the roles in this type of world to be Japanese or any Asian performer for that matter, or if it's not I still think it's stupid not to have different races having bigger parts in American-made films, but I guess that's just how racist Hollywood must be to not think that any big role that goes to an African-American wouldn't be such an influencing type of thing to go with a cool action movie. I would just die if they made an Afro Samurai movie, I still have to see the anime.
Anyway, I don't care if my opinion doesn't make any sense or not like I always think about when I talk about certain points I find to be obviously true.
I would LOVE to see them try to do an Eiken film, if they did, oh god, I just want someone to go shoot the production of that just for trying to attempt on making it, but I won't rant about it now, ask me about it later.
I guess I'll look out for this, but if the preview doesn't interest me then it's not what I'm going to see.
