While Im happy to see this news, I think its 3 years too late. But if they can get Sean William Scott back then its worth it.

Not interested.
Way too late at this point to keep me interested in the characters doing anything else.

the only reason to give this a chance is the fact that we would get the same actors and characters, alot of people around here have seen the spin offs, i havent. but i dont think they have that same feel the original 3 did.
Band Camp wasnt bad, somewhat watchable. It brings both Sherman and Jims Dad back but I didnt bother with the other two.
I would be interested in this idea. I'd like to see the whole male cast return, including Klein as Oz. I think most of them including Scott would return. Scott has been the most succesful of those actors but he hasnt exactly been a big, big hit since the real Stifler was put to rest 5 years ago.
The female side I could give two shits. Obviously Alyson will probably return. Far as Mena and Tara. I think it would be best to leave Tara out. Shes been a nobody and PR nightmare for a long, long time now. Mena I think could come back even in a small, non significant role. Nadia played by Shannon is another who gives a fuck IMO.
It will be interesting if Adam Herz, the writer behind the series returns. I would assume he would but who knows.

Don't really care.
american pie beta house looked promising...never got around to seeing it though
band camp was descent..but i only saw it cause it was on tv and i was hungover and didnt feel like switching the channels :D
Of all the times I've talked about this series on this board over the years, through my reviews, etc. I've always said that Universal should've just done this shit and put this shit into production way back in what 05 really. Since there were 2 year intervals between the other 3 movies.
Pie (99)
Pie 2 (01)
Pie 3 (03)
Instead they wasted their time with those DTV sequels. That could cost them especially if they dont get Scott back whose arguably the face of the franchise even though I've always found Jim and Finch the backbone of the franchise.

The reason behind the long wait is pretty simple I think.
The money it would cost to make part 4 as opposed to a spin off compared to what you would bring in is one of them, Scott alone would of been a huge chunk.
Another reason would be that some of the cast at that time had no intention on coming back, Scott being the big one here, making a Pie movie without Stiffler with Scott in the role is suicide, and they went out of there way to get him to come back, I believe he got his own office at the Universal lot and a three picture deal just to do it, on top of all the money.
But 5 years later with no one in the cast really doing anything, not only would this be a good idea for the actors, the cost of it has no doubt gone down, Scott cant comand the money he could of in 05, however like I said since a movie cant be done without him that he can still pull a pretty penny since there gonna need him.
Finch is a must, and Thomas Im sure will do it since he stooped so low for that worthless cameo in Harold and Kumar 2 (wow, those two were criminally underused) and obviously Biggs would want in since he is the driving character of the series.
Kevin will be in, and if they get Oz back in there it will be a solid plus for the fans.
And we dont have to worry about Levy, he got his carrer back with these movies and has done nothing but try and give the carrer back by doing those DTV movies.
I knew it was only a matter of time before Red chimmed in on this.

Pull off a miracle and get back the original cast then maybe.American Wedding was decent only because Sean William Scott coming back as Stiffler saved it.

They should have thought about putting this movie out before all those other stupid American Pie films :dsp:
If the trailers look decent, I'll give it a watch. Otherwise, a waste of time.

I'de like to see them bring in stifflers brother from band camp too.

Indeed it was money.
When it comes to this series, its usually one of the series out there im oddly most passionate about and discuss frequently when it comes around the board as you and others would know from my past reviews and whatnot.
In the long line of Rogenized/Jonah Hill/Will Farrell/Steve Carrell compilation of comedies that have come around this decade. I still dont think any of them really touch the balance that the AP trilogy had of both comedy, good characters and developing new turning points for those characters throughout that series.
Who knows if they can do that again if everyone were to return. Everyone that was significant that is.
I'll be shocked if they bring someone like Tara back and sorta disappointed if they did. Worst comes to worst, just a brief mention. I've always assumed the character would remove herself from Kev and become a slut at college, end of that plot point really if we just go with the end of AP2.
Natasha Lyonne as Jessica is a push. She was the wisdom character of the first two movies. I think she would come back and Sherminator played by Chris Owen would be a neat cameo as a guidance counselor unless they decide to disregard Band Camp which would be interesting if they did. Oddly enough I know a kid from my town who looks just like the Sherminator.
Stiflers mom I guess could come back but I would like it if Finch actually got to be with some chick near his age in the movies.
Eh thats my rant for now.
Pull off a miracle and get back the original cast then maybe.American Wedding was decent only because Sean William Scott coming back as Stiffler saved it.
AP3 was good but I think they overdid it with Stifler in that movie more or less to compensate for most of the female side of the cast being gone and Klein being gone due to filming something else.
To each is own though.

isn't this really american pie 8?
The DTV movies are considered spin-offs. If this new movie gets made it would be considered the fourth in the main series with the original cast and a theatrical release. If it gets made I'll see it, if it doesn't get made I don't really care.

I would probably watch this even if it was another spin-off, but doing a real sequel, with the old characters, would be the best for sure.

If the cast returns I'll be game. I just hope it doesn't turn out like Harold and Kumar 2 and they try to be a little too funny and force a lot of jokes.

Honestly, if they get the original cast back, I'll watch it.
I think that Universal made a huge mistake with the DVD films however, as I'm sure the idea of anything with 'American Pie' in the title now has a lot of people cringing.

i have to agree unless they can bring back the original cast from the 1st three movies it will be worth a watch especially Jason Biggs and Alysson Hannigan again.
