Eastwood back to acting again. This one looks awesome. Eastwood as a bad ass some of a bitch. Rumor is this was supposed to another Dirty Harry movie, but Eastwood went another direction with it. Looks kickass nonetheless

Walt Kowalski is a widower, grumpy, tough-minded, borderline-hateful, unhappy old man who can't get along with either his kids or his neighbors, a Korean War veteran whose prize possession is a 1973 Gran Torino he keeps in cherry condition. When his neighbor Tao, a young Hmong teenager, tries to steal his Gran Torino, Kowalski sets out to reform the youth. Drawn against his will into the life of Tao's family, Kowalski is soon taking steps to protect them form the gangs that foul their neighborhood.

Even as old as Eastwood is, he still has that tough guy in him. I've always loved him and am glad he's back again. This looks great. Can't wait.

still should have went with the dirty harry angle. I like the old retired version of the character idea. Stallone pulled it off. I'll still see this though. It'd never happen but I'd love to see Sean Connery do a retired James Bond movie.

Heard some solid preliminary reviews on this flick. Seems like old-school Eastwood without the recent bullshit anti-war and assisted suicide themes.

Been looking forward to this flick for a while now. Interesting to see it's not another Dirty Harry movie, but I wouldn't be surprised if the success of this sparks further interest in a sequel :hmmm:

Good movie, but some of the scenes and acting are a bit hard to watch. I guess it's Clint's old age, but I don't know how he could have let some of these young actors get away with what they presented on-screen. Especially the young lead boy, whom Clint's character grows fond of -- I couldn't believe how bad his acting was :dsp:

As suspected, the flick is pretty slow paced, but I was still interested from the start. Clint, playing an old racist, is an interesting anti-hero character. The story is pretty predictable, but being a fan of Clint I had no problems with it. The man can still kick ass at his age.

A couple scenes were a bit awkward -- one involving him getting mad and punching things and pretty much most of the scenes of him just "hanging out" with the younger kids.

Other than the acting and the cliched premise, I liked the flick. Not Clint's best work, but also not his worst. He's still a talented director :thumbup3:

Good film, not as great as other Eastwood films, but it was definitely a well-made film. Was quite funnier than I expected; those expecting a lot of action will be disappointed.

I loved this flick. I loved the theme(s) and it had A LOT of really good messages to take away. My only problem, like Fright mentioned, was "Toad's" acting. He was good enough to tolerate, but I can't believe Eastwood was satisfied with him. At times the kid was so terrible I felt bad for him.

well, the movie is a drama...so what were you expecting?!?!? An action scene every 10 minutes?

...as for the film itself, I liked it. It could have been so much better though...especially with some of the acting (Clint did great, but the supporting cast was so-so at best). I think that the racism was so over the top that it became meaningless and even funny towards the halfway point of the movie. What I mean by funny, is in the same context as over the top gore...you just can't take it serious after so much.

7/10 from me.

10/10. This was a masterpiece. Over the top at, moments, yes, but by the end, it felt like the perfect blend of Mystic River meets Dirty Harry. Zero complaints from me. Best line "You ever run into someone you just shouldn't have messed with, that's me..." I'll be buying it the day of its dvd release.:thumbup3:

Very great movie. 9/10. I was suprised at how funny it turned out to be. I was fooled into thinking this would be mostly straight-up drama. But done well, yes, and a fantastic closing chapter on Eastwood's acting career.

I loved this movie! Clint can be 120 and still play a total badass. I'm definitely buying this when it comes out. IMO it's a 9.
