Quoting the site, heres the short synopsis:
1595: The long war is finally over. Brothers Knut and Eric are officers in commission marking the border separating Finland and Russia, and they commit a terrible sin leaving a young girl to die a horrible death. As the officers cross an uncharted swamp the girl returns to haunt them her face spewing endless filth. The weary men find hospice in the sauna of a nameless village. The sauna where all sins will be washed away. Seeking forgiveness, Knut and Eric step in...

Is that a figure of a human there? One notably cool thing in the movie: All scares happen in daylight.
First of all, the movie isnt that scary. There are some fairly creepy scenes, and couple of times where you will jump, but overall it is not so scary. It concentrates more about the drama, and the weird atmosphere in the nameless village, and its weird (and obviously scared) townsfolk.
Characters are the greatest in this film. Knut and Eric are like sun and the moon. Other one is a quiet-type of geologist, while the other one is a war veteran with 73 kills under his conscience. The quiet one seems to have a thing for underage little girls which he tries to deny in horror, while the older one is a borderline psychopath with very short temper, not forgetting his grudge towards russians, making him cause trouble. Funnily I felt the most rational characters were the russians in the expedition, especially the oldest one of them who noticed something was wrong in the village, and wanted to get out as quick as possible. A rarity in a horror movie: A character who realises what's going on, and has common sense enough to try to run as far as possible.
In the way the movie is a lot like Devil's Backbone. It isnt as scary as you first thought, but from the shell it turns out to be a very good drama movie nonetheless. Both have the supernatural, and war tied together.

Despite the glasses making him look like a civil man, Eric is very brutal, and easy to anger.
There is not that much gore, given this is more of a psychological horror/thriller. There are nasty corpses here and there, and some very good blood effects though.
Only complaints I had in this movie were pretty much what I felt funny, a finnish bloke that I am.
Firstly: the movie is set in the medieval ages. So why on earth the main characters speak modern finnish? Though it makes Eric a lot stronger character, making him swear a lot, it isn't really that effective when he uses the swear words of what our teenagers use. This is a minor problem though, and I'm sure it will not affect subtitles in foreign countries.
Secondly: How on earth could anyone even think that a grey bunker-like construction IN THE MIDDLE OF A SWAMP would be sauna? Like one of the villagers say: "Perhaps its purpose is something else, but we call it sauna because it resembles one so much", I mean what sort of mushroom addicts are these people, thinking that sort of a creepy building which has swallowed a lot of filthy water could be sauna? But whatever.
The absolutely best scene was the climax, with one of the most shocking scenes I've seen in years.
Overall this movie was a positive surprise for me. It got quite negative reviews here in Finland, but very good ones especially in Toronto festival this year. Might be the exotic feel given our culture might be a bit strange in american eyes. I wish it wouldve been scarier, and perhaps a bit longer since it seemed like the plot was rushed a bit before the end.
Gorepurists may not like this movie, but those who go with an open mind will find this movie's depressing atmosphere and plot beautiful, with little shocks and shivers as a neat extra.
9/10.

The film's rights has been bought by this U.S. company, so I'm sure you will eventually find this one at least as a DVD, either by the name Sauna or Filth.
EDIT: pics and links are up.
