Only played the training part but already the game has set a tone that surpasses the first one. Really looking forward to the campaign.

What I'm really posting about is Horde Mode. I had no idea when reading about it that it could be this fun. I was playing it by myself (big mistake, big big mistake) and I got to level 4 before I died first (playing on medium difficulty). Granted I haven't touched Gears 1 for like a year, but I consider myself a pretty seasoned player.

I finally got to level 5 and couldn't get past it before my lunch break was over and had to get back to work.

The Boomers are BRUTAL in this game, having expanded to having multiple types, such as the Butcher (basically a boomer with a machete type weapon) and Flame Boomers (totally relentless and will roast you while your screaming trying to get away). I literally jumped at one part. I was playing on avalanche and I set up a proximity smoke grenade on a wall just to let me know when something was coming. Well, I felt my controller vibrating (means a boomer is walking close to you) and I turned to look and I'm face to face with one. He says, "BOOOOOOM!!!" and I did just that.

Anybody who liked the first one will absolutely love this one. I definately suggest getting it.

Necessary? No. But Gears 1 was/is a very, very good game and you are really missing out by not playing it, even if its a weekend rental.

Any games short when you blow through it on easy. :D

What GoW2 lacks in length in more than makes up for in substance. I'm taking a break from playing just act I right now and already it's blown me away in ways the first one didn't. Not to mention horde mode and how long of a challenge that can be. And then after that I got MP to play. Game is definitely worth the money.

Fallout 3 is the same way. You can play the "main" quest and have it beat in 8-10 hrs. It's all the extra stuff that makes it worth it.

I thought GoW was a great game, but GoW2 has actually made me a fan of the series. As far as shooters go, nothing offers a more cinematic, tense and out-right fun experience.

That's just because people got the game not for the single or co-op playing but for being able to go online instead. Oh and you can still get the hammer of dawn friend got it last night when we played it over another friend's house was in the co-op mode one with the split screen's.

The first Gears of War is one of my favourite games, so I have massive hopes for this...

good game, took me about 10-12 hours on insane difficulty, not necessarily long, but not as short as it took me on Gears Of War 1, and multiplayer, barring a few hitches, is very cool.

Any UHMer's down for some horde sometime?

I already beat it on casual or normal, but I will be interested in doing some Horde on Insane or Hardcore eventually. I'm trying to get through the campaign on hardcore with one of my friends, but he's married so he can only play like an hour here or there. Then I wanna play some MP, but Horde is what's gonna really give this thing the replay value I think.

The game is short, but games now a days arnt geared toward the single player anyway, they all focus on multiplayer

B/c a lot of so-called "gamers" got all their kills by rolling into an enemy and shotgunning them, which takes absolutely zero strategy or brainpower to accomplish.

I'm glad they fixed the freakin thing. Now you have to actually be close to somebody to kill them with the shotgun. Imagine that. I remember getting sniped with that damn thing in GoW1.

They have the hammer of dawn in co op mode. Thats how you defeat the final boss. Not sure if single is the same.
Me and my roomate beat the second day after I bought it on hardcore, ending sucks and the game was really just to damn short. MS should be ashamed of themself!!

My stingy hubby wouldn't let me beat gears 2 first so i had to watch him beat it then we played on co-op and got half way through before i had to go to bed for work. It took him 8 hrs to beat it. we were 4 hrs through on co-op. Its hella fun and and I enjoy it. I was unhappy about the shortness of it, but I understand thats just because they plan on making another one. Cole was my favorite character in this gears his personality was great and made me laugh on several occasions. Im down for playing online sometime...send me a pm if ya want...or send me a message on my myspace..which im on everyday at least once...except for when im playing neverwinter nights 2. My gamertag is now only GunValkyrie....hit me up I play halo and gears the most on 360. I have many online games as well if anyone wants to play with me online...i have :hellgate london, FEAR, Diablo 2 (old school but still fun), Command and Conquer 3...and many others......I also have a WII and play Dr. Mario online...shreds can tell you this cause I whooped his ass...lol...

Played and won a tournament for this game at a local game store. A friend who's big into 360 tournaments planned on playing with his teamate who backed out, so I filled in for em. Never played the game a day in my life beforehand.
