I got a few tickets to the opening of My Name is Bruce in New Haven, CT last night as a birthday present. One of the best presents evar!!

As most of the fans on this site are aware this is another Bruce Campbell original, directed, produced, and staring, and as he says partially written (though he doesn't receive the credit for it).

If you are a Bruce Campbell fan (as I am) you are gonna love this movie. If you sat through Alien Apocalypse, The Man with the Screaming Brain, or even Tornado! and actually enjoyed them this film is the one you've been waiting for.

The plot is idiotic and simple, a town abducts Bruce Campbell to help them fight an ancient Chinese demon that is slaughtering the town. Unfortunately, Bruce is not a real monster fighter so much as he is a jerk actor that plays them in his terrible sci-fi movies.

This film is around 60% humor 40% horror. Some funny kills, lots of blood, decapitations, severed limbs, cut throats, all great.

The cast of the town is littered with people that have co-stared with Bruce in numerous films, including like 4 rolls for Ted Raimi.

There are so many inside jokes for Bruce fans and just general jabs at the horror genre and horror fans I’m sure everyone on this site will be entertained for the whole time.

Bottom line: if you are a fan of Bruce Campbell or maybe just a fan of horror in general, and enjoy a good laugh this film is a must see.

8/10

Sidenote: the projectionist of the theater effed up royally and swapped reels 2 and 3, after the movie Bruce was there for a Q and A session and even joked about it. Bruce also made a prank call on a fan’s phone to her parents…in which the cops were called.

Always loved the humor that Bruce brings up in his movies even if i'm not really into comedy and horror.
