I'm still pretty much a rookie when it comes to anime. I'm looking for sick, bloody, & violent anime...but good, not poorly made. I've heard from a friend that "Fist of the Noth Star" is a good start. Never heard of that one before...gonna give it a try though. Any other recommendations?

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is a pretty stand out one. Everything from torture to brutally murdering little kids. It's a comedy/murder mystery/horror anime. There are actually a few creepy parts to it too. There's also a second season called Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. Be sure to watch the first season first. It's awesome
School Days is not too bad with it. However, you have to get through some annoying high school love drama/love triangle bull shit to get to it. However, I think it was worth it when I look back.
Elfen Lied. Never watched it yet, heard it was violent as hell, though.
Hellsing. Not too bad with the violence.
I'd recommend checking out Higurashi first out of all of these. Such great violence in that show

Did a google search on bloody and violent anime and Elfen Lied always pops up and seems to be the favorite.
Thanx ds.

Yeah, from what I heard, it starts off with some naked chick in a building killing everybody. Sounds interesting enough :mhehe:

One of my personal favs ever since I was a kid. Since it's from the 80's the animation isn't exactly up to today's top-of-the-line standards but the art direction and character design still kick all sorts of ass. And yeah, there's tons of blood & gore.

Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are rather bloody, but commical at the same time.
Armitage the III, one of my personal favorites is also violent.
Akira....I'll let you find out for yourself.

I just remembered another one.
Iria: Zirham the Animation (Hope I spelled it right). Animation aint top notch, but it's not cheesy or bad. And you get a fair amount of bloodshed.

Higurashi :D Whatever I come across 1st I guess. Gantz seems to be a favorite of alot of anime lovers based on the searches I've done and like I said before that Elfen Lied anime is really popular too.
I keep meaning to get into 'em...but never seem to.

Higurashi and Claymore are both good ones.. Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust has it's moments. But that's just a kick arse film.

Blood is a good anime; has your standard amount of blood for animes in the horror genre. Since it's only 40-something minutes, you might as well add it to animes to watch, can't really go wrong with it :shrugs:
I still need to watch the series, I hear it's really good :hmmm:

Now lessee.
Requiem from darkness (www.requiemfromdarkness.com), one of the most disturbing horror animes I've seen so far. Especially the episode about cannibalism. No , ESPECIALLY about the episode of that murderer who had a bad case of necrophilia!
Devilman OVAs, or Devilman Amon. Both pretty good gore-wise, though the first has hilariously bad dubbing (all old animes have), and the latter is hard to follow if you haven't followed the story before. Heres little AMV about Amon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=483LdNpDPfs
Gantz is good too, though it is pretty slow, and some of the death methods are bit boring.
Elfen Lied has gore and boobs, so its definitely good for a gore fan. I only managed to watch that crappy emofest because of the sheer amount of blood in it.

(sorry for double post)
Try its manga. double the gorier and sicker. And since the author is the same as with Tokyo Akazukin (Tokyo Red Hood), it has a lot of pedophilic tendensies to it.
Tokyo Akazukin, now thats a sick manga.

"Higurashi" can get pretty bloody, and insane too with all the crazy laughing. But it's also really easy to get lost, as the story sort of resets and goes off in another plot every few episodes.
"Elfen Lied"... ...that's the gore you want.
I heard "Berserk" is also a good one.

Gantz is a good anime all around, violent, bloody, really interesting story and characters. The only problem I have with it, is how it's not really fully explained, which is why I would imagine a second season would eventually be released (if it hasn't already).
Here's a GIF I made a while back from a scene in the anime:

But then again isnt it part of the charm, much like in Cube which is somewhat similar with its idea?
And I doubt theres going to be second anime, because the manga version has gone quite long now, with the same characters as in anime. They werent supposed to die in the end

I liked it as well, but it had too many long drawn-out episodes of just nothing, but talking. I'd recommend just watching Shinobi: Heart Under Blade instead.

Gantz is a big waste,, nobody behaves realistically, the characters never learn from their mistakes, and keep repeating themselves to the point of madness. I wont even start with the ultimate waste they call an ending. I seriously wish I hadn't watched this infuriating series :dsp:
Claymore was good until it became redundant, and i'd recommend 'Hokuto no Ken' OVA to anyone who seeks violent bloody deaths :smokin2:
