A group of friends on a Mexican holiday takes a turn for the worse when they embark on a visit to a remote archaeological dig in the jungle, where something evil lives among the ruins…
We’ve seen it all before right, not in this case. The Ruins takes a tired formula and gives it welcome twist. They don’t get stuck inside the Mexican temple and get picked off one by one by some crazed monster. Here nature is the monster and the locals who don’t want our holidaymakers to leave the camp at the top of the temple.

The acting is more than average for this type of movie. The effects are realistic, the direction by Carter Smith is imaginative and he knows how to build tension. There are enough shocks in the story by Scott B. Smith who also wrote the novel to keep you on the edge.

It a mix of Touristas aka Paradise Lost (UK) The Day of The Triffids and the maze from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire all rolled into an above average horror flick.

All in all a creepy horror tale that will stay with you…

The book totally owns the movie... That's not to say the film didn't have some good gore. The problem is that the characters are at best vapid and at worst terribly unlikeable. And the talking flower effect doesn't translate well to the screen without coming across as silly.

Everyone says that...I recently read the book and found it just as annoying as the film.

I actually liked it. I went into it not knowing what it was about and was pleasantly suprised.

movie was alright. I love the idea of a killer plant, but it could have been done a littl better. HOWEVER the scene with the guys legs. That was very cringing. That scene was done very very well.

I still haven't seen this, but I did read the book. Does everyone die in the film at the end?
