Hi guys. I was wondering if you could help me. I am trying to sort out one of my girlfriends presents for Christmas and i had in mind getting her a big collection of really sad dvd's. She loves these tear jerkers. Anyway i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for really good tear jerkers.

There are a lot of good Asian romance-dramas that I've seen that are pretty sad, but they aren't as easily accessible, so I dunno if you'd want to get something like that online or find something that you can grab at the store. The only non-foreign tear-jerker-type flick that I can think of is The Notebook :hmmm:

There are movies that make me really sad but for other personal reasons then them being general tear-jerkers. Gonna think of some when I get back home.

Only movie I ever shed a tear on was Armageddon.

Only movie my father (who would kick Chuck Norris's ass btw) ever shed a tear on was Pay It Forward.

Dancer In The Dark, House of Sand and Fog, and Amores Perros are probably the most depressing films I've ever seen.

But if you want to go for the typical movies that most girls would love, The Notebook is your best bet.

These movies didn't really make me full on cry, but they did give me watery eyes. I'm sure there are more, and I'll add them later, but I can remember these ones right now.

When William Wallace in the ending scene of Braveheart is getting disemboweled and won't give in to England. He holds his dead wife's embroidered cloth in his hand and cries out ''FREEDOM''....hell, what bravery and a true patriot. Always gets me.

That is an altimate badd ass and the bravest dude ever.

Click, which surprised me because it was a comedy and I wasn't expecting it. It's actually one of the saddest I've seen IMO.
The Green Mile
Elephant Man (kinda old though)
Pay It Forward
Crash, not really a tear jerker, but I felt sorry for the characters, and one part almost got me.
Pursuit of Happyness
Requiem For A Dream, same as Crash.

Its a New York Times best seller. Ive heard from people who dont even read say they enjoyed the book, so who knows what the movie will be like! Im sure a box of Kleenex will be necessary.

I wouldn't so much say this is a tear-jerker, but dammit it's probably the closest thing to a tear-jerker me and my wife would ever watch...

Legend

Righteous flick and it makes my wife all lovey...

Wife can't stand tear-jerkers and chick-flicks... they hold no interest for her whatsoever... and that suits me just fine.

Lady In White

Blow Out...the ending got me good

Don't Torture a Duckling

As a kid the Unico animes. Every time he made friends he would be found and had to be taken away otherwise the gods would put him on the hill of oblivion which I guess was a bad place. I used to cry cause he would have to leave all his friends and they would all be crying. Very sad endings for cartoons that were essentially for kids.

And although not a movie one Christmas special for ALF really made me cry. He visits a children's hospital accidentally taken there mistaken for an "ugly" doll. All the children there are cancer patients and the girl that starred in it was an actual child who had cancer. He ends up revealing himself to her and they become friends. In the credits they dedicate the episode to her as she died after it's completion. It's a beautiful episode, but I can't watch it without crying. Don't know if anyone remembers it.
