DEMONS
Directed By Laberto Bava
Written By Laberto Bava and Dario Argento
Produced By Dario Argento
Starring A bunch of Italian and German people you have never heard of (and Dario Argento's other daughter)

Ahh, The "Demons" series. I distinctly remember the giant Big Box VHS with the title "Dario Argento Presents DEMONS" written is highly stylized yellow letters, the silhouettes of the villains of the film ascending a staircase with an ominous blue glow behind them. I passed that cover hundreds of times at the video store when I was a kid. My mom would never let me rent it though. It wasn't until I was 14 that I actually saw the film. I remember buying that old VHS from the same video store I used to frequent as a kid. I ran home and watched it, alone, in a dark basement, and while it didn't quite scare me then, I was still a little spooked.

Demons tells the story of a group of people invited to a secret film showing at a mysterious cinema called "Metropol". After trying on a mask in the lobby, a woman transforms into a demon, and whenever a demon attacks once of the audience members, they too transform into demons. Soon all hell has broken loose and it is up to the few remaining survivors to fight their way out.

There are soooo many plot holes in this movie. (Why would you bring a blind man to the movies? and so on) But the action and pacing more then make up for this. The action/dub is not the best. There are many scenes where the actors lips are moving, but nothing is being said. It gets annoying after a while (Look for a rather annoying scene like this involving the pimp.)

The special effects are amazing. There are many decapitations, slit throats, an the best "Death By Helicopter" scene I've seen in a while.

Laberto Bava proves that while he isn't as accomplished as his father was, he still knows how to make a great movie. I recommend watching this with some friends that know how to poke fun at the film's mistakes, yet enjoy it for what it is, Good Cheesy Italian Fun.

7/10

Demons 2 is good as well wooden...stay away from Demons 3 though it has nothing to do with the others. Watch The Church instead.

that pimp character definitly stands out. Me and My friend watched it, he went and got a shirt made of the guy.

Absolutly one of the best 1980's horror films! When I first got it, I was skeptical on how good it would be. But then I was ROCKED by the sountrack, action scenes, and, of course, the gore! 8/10.

All around solid movie. Great review. Best was with the motorcycle. However, I didn't notice many problems with the dubbing on the DVD release. There was just so much about this movie that kicked ass, the pimp, the gore, and especially *semispoiler*

Doing coke out of the coke can. Priceless. 8/10 IMO
