mech movie

[Chief Falling Rock]

this may sound extremely vague, considering I've never actually seen this movie. But a friend of mine was telling me about this movie he had seen. Its a bout people who drive mechs and they fight in this huge arena, he remembered the effects were kinda ray harryhausen like and the bad guy drove a big scorpion. I think he said the main hero was driving a humanoid type mech. Theres a scene where they crash into the stands of the arena and kill a bunch of people. Thats all I know. It sounded cool so I figured I would ask if anyone knows what the hell I'm talking about.

Well part of the description he is talking about Robot Jox, but the scorpion mech is in the sequel Robot Wars not the first one.
