As to not clog other threads with off topic nonsense I figured I'd start this up for all things Resident Evil (game-wise...not movies).

With RE5 coming closer I figured it would happen anyway.

I managed to get my hands on a copy of the Japanese RE5 Demo for the 360 and it is pretty damn sweet, though it retains most of the controls from RE4 it feels lacking and clumsy compared to something like Dead Space...in the Demo there is a lot of "Team" play similar to what you did with the pres' daughter in RE4 but this time your partner can fight and acts more on their own.

Side note: I still say the RE Lightgun games were poop (except for the Wii one that was pretty sweet)

Good series

Fan of all of the main ones RE0 through RE4 and RE5 soon to be.

I just think some of the purists out there need to realize that survival horror has evolved for better or worse. Capcom won't change things back to the way they were. If anything for those who could not stand RE4, they should just hope for a remake of RE2 which seems pretty likely.

Well the Wii one was the only "true" Lightgun game, as it was on-rails. I liked Survivor though, I would buy Survivor 2 when I get Japanese PS2. Dead Aim was short, like an hour, but it was cool.

The first 3 on PS1 were fantastic, even the Gamecube released the first RE with some added stuff which was very good. RE4 was imo the best of the series thus far, just wish they would have released something on the PS3 but RE5 will be here soon enough

My favorite overall is part 2 followed closely by 4. Part 5 looks great and i'm looking forward to it.

My favorite no matter what is 3. And Nemesis, besides Barry Burton, is my favorite character from the series

Nemesis is the best part of 3 no doubt. Always loved it when he said "Stars". Creepy shit.

Best monster in the series hands down.

Haha yeah which is why it pissed me off in the movie that he WASN'T CGI, because the actor who played him just seemed too small. But back on topic I have nearly every RE game except for outbreak 1 and 2 which didn't offer really anything to the main story line, Survivor 2 (just havent gotten around to getting it online) and Umbrella Chronicals because I don't own a Wii. My 3 favorites would deffinitely be:
Code Veronica - it was hard and had a great story
Resident Evil 1 REmake - it is hands down the BEST game remake so far, hopefully capcom will REmake RE2 and RE3 which would look great on a next gen system.
Resident Evil 3 - all because Nemesis is fuckin' badass

I would have added 4 in there, its the FUNNEST game because of the controls, but story wise it was a bit dry and almost no attempts to explain exactly how Umbrella was dismantled (although that was fixed with RE:UC)

One game in the series that was pretty fun but barely known was Gaiden, it was the only handheld Resident Evil and it was a tough game. It may be non-cannon now due to it's ending, but its rare and a challenge if your bored and stuck on a plane or long road trip.

Well 4 didn't have to explain anything about Umbrella because playing the other games especially 3, pretty much says it themselves. Gaiden, the only damn game where you can play as Barry :dsp: it was cool. Do you have a J-PS2 or a modded one? *You said you havent gotten around to getting Survivor 2 online*

As I'm not a big gamer, I only ever played 3.

But I used to watch my step-bro play RE2 all the time and I liked just sitting in the dark watching and waiting. Was like watching a horror movie for me heh.

Thats why part 2 is my favorite. I felt like I was controlling a horror movie plus had two great scare moments with the lickers.I played both Outbreaks but got bored easily so didnt play them much.Guess I was hoping for more Umbrella stories.

That why I said it was fixed with RE:UC, because I was expecting that there was supposed to be a story of the S.T.A.R.S team finally taking down umbrella in the begining of RE4 but all it basically said is that they were brought to federal court, were charged on all counts and disbanded. But like I said problem fixed in RE:UC

And my PS2 isn't modded yet, but I have a friend who will do it for me thats tech savy, I'll have hime do that when I need it to be done, which is when I finally get around to buying Survivor 2.

OH! about RE5, has anyone else noticed the black leech man looking thing is back from the scrapped version of RE4???????

I noticed that from an early trailer before this rascism shit hit the fan. Looked like its what is infecting the villagers.

Yeah I'm glad they brought that back from the scrap pile, when they were making RE4 and showing early teasers I thought it was cool looking. Kind of reminds me how Nemesis was an early design for Mr. X in RE2 but they scrapped the design, thankfully they made him the main antagonist in RE3

Nemesis is what really made RE3 a great game. Im happy they keep ideas still alive and use them then discarding them forever. I was checking out gameplay for 5 and looks great only gripes I read about is the control.

yeah RE3 did kick ass but it's one of the only RE games I only played once, I think I need to go back and play it one more time to refresh myself

I love the games,my favorite game series.

I thought 4 was incredible probably my fav behind only part 2. The control scheme and hit detection really added to the whole experience, even if the story wasnt as good as the others.

Part 4 easily was the best gameplay wise. But with the new camera system I felt like you gained almost too much control and lost some of the scares, where as with a fixed camera system you're at the mercy of the designers. Like in RE3, there was a scene where the camera was up in a corner, and you couldn't see one of the exits. All of a sudden you hear that door creek open and shut, almost gently, but then you hear "STAAAAAAARS" immediately after. I remember it was a terrifying video game experience.

For me, it's RE4, RE2, RE3, RE, RE:CV, RE:0 and the rest I think are so-so.

I'd go:
RE2, RE4, RE remake, RE: CV, RE3, RE0, RE1, RE: UC, though I've never played them the RE outbreaks are probably better than the gun games on the PS

ReD

RE2
RE4
RE Remake
RE0
RE3

Did not care for RE3 at all. Innovative in some areas but I felt like it was a big step back from RE2 and its multi layered replayability.

I would agree about the control scheme for the newer games that it does take away some of the potential scares but at the same token if gaming never evolved, then I would not mind that control scheme as something permanent. Nevertheless it does evolve and I thought it was a good decision by Capcom even though it has it's large group of people who absolutely despise it.

The way I see it, if you wanted to satisfy those fans yearning for that control scheme again. I would simply change it back but keep the same amount of enemies as you would for RE4 and soon to be RE5. That way there is some sort of compromise.

Those games designed that way would probably be near impossible but it would be only way to freshen up the old style with the new.

I thought 4 had a great story. The cult was a great replacement for the zombies.

I see. My friend is selling me his J-PS2. Now I can play Survivor 2 and a bunch of SHMUPS Japan got :confident: Hopefully my Guncon controllers will work with it

Nice, I COULD go look in the city for a J-PS2 because somewhere in the Chinatown of Seattle they have an import electronics store that my friend got a J-PSP at, but I'd rather just mod the PS2 I have.

Does anyone know what Capcom meant when you can switch between the new controls and classic play for RE5? I couldnt tell if they meant like old school RE or that they changed something from RE4 that you dont have to use? Hopefully it's the former. I'm still stoked for RE5, each new trailer makes it look even better, like how the giant Croc Boss is back from RE2.

The trailer that I saw it in was on G4 when X-Play did a special on RE5 it was in some of the clips of the game they were showing. I'm not sure if G4 has full episodes on it's website, but if it does I'm sur eyou could find it on there somewhere. It was at a part in the trailer when they showed Chris walking up to some dock kind of like the one from RE4 and then the giant croc explodes out of the water at him.
