A lot of people have been talking about it for a few years...they showed it at a film festival in 07 and then planned a release to theaters in Jan 08. It kept getting pushed back and now I don't think it will be released due to Quarantine's failure (I believe its directed by the same guy).
some "leaked" footage on youtube has created a buzz for this movie for a while...

Watched the movie a few days ago and surprisingly it turned out to be a decent enough flick that is very similar to The Last Broadcast, only without the shitty ending.
The movie does have its weak points, with it being extremely far-fetched at times but it's the interview footage that is the worst. Particularly the FBI Instructor. Some of these segments are so bad, they are almost painful to watch (or just down right amusing). Also, a few of the serial killer's home movie segments are laughable as well, such as the one where he dresses up and almost looks like William Shakespear.
It does have it's moments though were there are genuine creepy and suspensful moments, one where he is creeping throughout a house while a woman takes a shower. Another where he gives a woman a ride, and psychologically tortures her while she is trapped in the back seat of the car.
This is strictly suspense flick as there is absolutely no gore in it, there is a little bit of blood involved in a couple death scenes but in general this movie is bone-dry.
As long as you're willing to forgive some of the horrible interview footage and how unbelievable the story can be at times, it'll be worth a watch.

I was supposed to do some promotional work for this film over a year ago. They were going to do this huge campaign in hopes of it becoming the next big indie crossover a la Blair Witch. Then it just disappeared off of the radar. It was made by the guys who did Quarantine, but it's "failure" had nothing to do with delays. (can you truly call a movie that made twice it's budget back a failure?) Poughkeepsie was in limbo long before Quarantine hit theaters.

I heard the part about quarantine being a flop from someone on another forum, so I decided to throw that in there, I believed it because...well...the movie wasn't that good.
I watched the first half of the Poughkeepsie tapes today, the second didn't work for me...I'll try again tomorrow...but either way, I felt it got boring at times because it doesn't quite cut out the down time, due to it's attempt to seem "real". If this was released in theaters, it would probably be a big hit...as previously said by Cataclysm, some parts were very creepy, while others were pretty outrageous.

About time. I saw clips of this over a year ago and have been waiting for it ever since.

yeah, I gave up on searching the web for more clips/the movie/info after a little while, but I was combing the movie section on a paintball forum and it was right there.

The trailers I saw in theaters for this didn't interest me, but I may have to end up checking it out anyway.

Just finished it. It was different, almost felt like a true crime story at times. No gore but some genuinely creepy moments. Overall a decent 7/10.
Did not care for the scene with the little girl in the yard, way to creepy
