So, i've finally decided to get rid of my current Desktop and upgrade. I'm not too huge on PC gaming, but I wouldn't mind having something that's just awesome with the gamer graphics (i play sims 2 and diablo 2 when i can), awesome for DVD/CD Burning, and all the other good stuff. I was currently thinking about getting that sweet-lookin HP Touchscreen, still pondering that. just wanted to know what types of PC everyone has, what works for you? what to avoid. i'd rather get some ideas from people themself instead of googling and other waste of time.

Thanx in advance :thumbup3:

If you're looking for a good gaming PC you'll probably be spending around or more than $1400, in my opinion. Stick with brands you know, HP and Dell are ones I would recommend. Stay away from emachines or any other generic POS. Always keep in mind that you get what you pay for.

It's cheaper to build your own, but unless you can do it yourself, you'll likely end up paying a bundle for someone else to do it for you. :shrugs:

I build my computers...nothing like picking out exactly what parts you want in it.

I'm always weary of name brand computers...I figure they always use the cheapest non-name parts, but then again the last "computer I bought" was a laptop from Compaq and that thing lasted 6 years before the MOBO finally went. In those 6 years I had to replace the RAM, hard drive, and the video-out never worked on the videocard.

My friends and I have had good luck with HP in the past when we did buy pre-built comps. However, like you, it's much more satisfying picking out exactly what you want in it and very satisfying putting it all together :thumbup3:

Thanx for the input! I wouldn't mind building my own PC, except i don't have the time or patience :whew: i've narrowed things down to the HP touchscreen and the Alienware Area-51. would have had my friend create one for me, but he's been busy with other junk. both are pricey, but i'm a student in need of an upgrade..

Alienware is overpriced and the touchscreen is just a gimmick, in my opinion :starefreak:
