"Take a gander at the big screen this year because you're likely to spy a full moon — and we aren't talking about Will Ferrell's bare butt. If 2008 marked a comeback for the vampire, the next 12 months belong to the werewolf. On Jan. 23, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans showcases the woolly beasts, while a furrier-than-usual Hugh Jackman returns in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (May 1). Later this year, Benicio Del Toro stars in The Wolfman (Nov. 6), and in the Nov. 20 Twilight sequel New Moon, heroine Bella moons over werewolf Jacob. TV loves a lupine too: Fox just ordered the ludicrously titled dramedy pilot Bitches — about a quartet of female werewolf friends in New York City — and it's rumored that season 2 of HBO's True Blood will get hairy. So what's with the comeback? ''The last time this happened was World War II,'' notes Brad Steiger, author of The Werewolf Book. ''It's reflective. We want to worry about something that can get us besides bailouts. I'm eager to see [these projects]. Benicio, God bless him, looks like a werewolf without the makeup.''

Sounds good to me. I always liked werewolves as a kid and I still like them now.

I think the article is kinda making the whole werewolves thing to be more than it is. It's really just a coincidence that there are quite a few coming out this year.
New Moon is obviously trying to come out ASAP, so naturally a year after the original. Wolf Man was actually supposed to come out in 2010, but they decided to bring it in early (why delay it if there's no need for it?) and True Blood season 2 was given the green light a long time ago, so naturally that'd come out this year.
In the end, the site had nothing else to report about, so they just threw a cheesy article together, and the fact that the writer mentioned Wolverine in it just shows that he/she has no idea what they're talking about. :negative:

A lot of these aren't even happening, just do searches on UHM and you'll find quite a few in the "Never Happened" section. Some of them that are happening aren't even coming out this year (that I'm aware of).

So does this mean Frankenstein is just around the corner to have his day in the sun [again]? Or will the other lower tiered monsters will be brought out?
I'm all for monster movies pouring out in cycles, but we gotta add some more variety than just three main types with bursts of zombies now and again.

wolverine is very very wolfman inspired character. I guess thats why they mentioned him. I can see why, although its not a "wolf" movie. I still can't wait for Dog Soldiers 2 and I'm holding out hope they dont CGI the shit out of it. Speaking of CGI, thats whats ruined the werewolf movie. Its pretty bad with all the advances in special effects that they use CG for werewolf transformations now. CG is about the most unscary thing I've ever seen in my life. I'm dying to see The Wolfman though. Thats one of those rare "tip top" of my list movies to see. I wish I could find more werewolf books cuz your imagination isnt ruined by crappy CGI.

Blade....BLADE???!!
Are you serious?
That's an action movie that just happened to have vampires in it...
I don't want a werewolf action movie...that's what Underworld has been...I want a balls to the wall blood dripping, flesh tearing, bone-breaking werewolf-fest in the vain of a "howling movie." Something that makes teenage girls in the theater puke from the violence, and everyone else cringe during the painful transformation sequence.
This hollywood "action wolf" crap can eat my taint.
ForsakenMoon19
02-20-2009, 04:27 PM
i want that too but with action!!! I think there's enough room in the world of movies that they can make a few different werewolf movies that can incorporate the things that you want and what i want!!!
