Wicked City is an anime that for some reason I just never watched, but have been wanting to for several years :whew: You'll like it, but it's a bit perverse in parts. Other than that, i'm sure you'll get sucked into the dark atmosphere, and moodiness of it. Has some good bloodshed and gore too, from what I remember :whew:

Whenever my friend would watch it, I'd refer to it as Inugaysha. He was displeased :D

Casshern Sins

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKw8QwhexVE

Like Dororon Enma-Kun and "Comedy" that I posted a page or so back, this show follows a trend in anime not unlike our re-interest in "grindhouse" cinema. It takes a title and/or style from a classic period in anime, keeps its stylistic essence while telling the story with modern techniques in ways impossible originally (not to be confused with stuff like that shitty re-telling of Area-88 with CG planes).

It's hard to believe the same studio responsible for the recent Blade anime also made this show. There's an obvious difference between what they do as work-for-hire for Marvel and when they get behind a show with some actual artistic interest.

...Casshern has appeared several times in anime and in one mind-blowing live action film that's actually one of very few examples of Japanese live action scifi cinema (that I've seen) with production value that's jaw dropping for its awesomeness and not its unintended comedy. This live action version is from the same director as the recent Goemon picture and an obvious source of inspiration for Zack Snyder.

Didn't like da movie :dislike:

I found the editing in about the first half hour very tedious and amateurish, but on a second attempt at viewing the film I got passed that and enjoyed it. Haven't seen Goemon yet.

Kami-sama no Memo-cho

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfJ1aCh6wzg

...this mystery/mindfuck series just started last week and is off to a promising start. The premiere episode basically has a band of young social misfits acting as detectives (under the command of an L-esque loli genius) solve a "Who Killed Laura Palmer" sorta case.

There's a lot of nice production value for a TV show, some nice character art, clever writing and contemporary themes, both universal and those more appealing to Japanophiles.

I couldn't get into Blood+ because of its thoroughly disappointing art, compared to the film as well as what I'd expect from Production I.G. in general, but Blood-C starts today and it looks like it could be a lot better:

Lets hope this is better than Hellsing, which is fun to edit, but to watch

Well the first episode wasn't very good. The animation is ok, but not unique like the Hyakka Ryouran art style. They introduced who I assume will be the main players, and they were all boring. The action didn't come until the end and was a mixed bag, parts of it were good, others were downright silly. The next episode doesn't really look much better. I will probably keep track of this series to see if it has enough slick action to be used for a MEP. Kind of a bland first ep, eh maybe it will improve.

Think i'm gonna go catch up on the latest ep's of Dead Man's Wonderland, The Wretched Egg

Checked the King of Thorn, good visuals, awful lead character, overall decent. The visuals were great, the story however was not. I really couldn't stomach the leading lady, she was thoroughly awful. Every seen she was in was painful to watch, and worse to hear.

It is too bad, because it could have been something memorable, instead it's merely ok. Cool stuff for an AMV if you paired it with the right song.

Seto no Hanayome (My Bride is a Mermaid) - Fantastic comedy, that has one of the funniest Terminator spoofs i've ever seen. Liked everything about this one, extremely funny.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? - Another funny Anime

Shikabane Hime

Garden of Sinners - Beautiful artwork and animation, very weird stories.

HSotD was fun! I actually enjoyed it a lot. I recently started watching Darker than Black. It's pretty awesome. Thinking about re-watching Claymore. :shifty:

If you're into sappy high school drama, fanservice, and twist endings, sure! :2thumbs:

Anyway, you guys should check out "Denpa teki na Kanojo". Wouldn't say it's necessarily horror, but it's got some decent moments of brutality. It's only two episodes, so...
