Just curious what anime members are watching right now?

I'm still watching Naruto, but I stopped Bleach since they started showing them crappy fillers. I started watching Baccano! and Black Blood Brothers a while back, but I still haven't finished'em :shrugs:

Angel Blade 1, 2, 3 (actually Hentai) is one series I need to get back to, haven't watched all three of those DVDs fully ever since I bought them, but I'll make the time somehow.

How's Pumpkin Scissors?

It was pretty interesting.. little action, but the action that there was is very intense. Characters are likable, but of course there are the oddball eccentric ones. Overall, good entertaining anime.

Boring anime reminds me the final seson of Inuyasha (season 7) hits DvD on April 28. Finally get to fill up that gap in my dvd shelf between season 6 and the movies. Sad that my need to finish series is greater than my desire to watch it. :shrugs:

Its one of those anime that went on way too long and has alot of fluff filler episodes. They could have cut it to 3 seasons and wouldnt have missed much. I'm stuck by my mentally unstable collecting habbits to finish off the series. Season 7 will likely sit on my shelf for months before I actually watch it.

I'll likely buy the box set for Gundam Wing 08th MS team to balance out my animation purchase in April.

I only like Gundam 08th MS team. It follows a basic group of grunts rather than the allstar elite heroes so it was easier to enjoy.

I never got into Naruto. Nothing wrong with it, just didnt grab me.

Blue Gender, Cowboy Bebop, Outlaw Star, Samurai X and Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Big O, Appleseed, stuff like this... these have served me well over the years. :shrugs:

I was a little wary of the fact it had "Mechas" too, but it goes pretty deep into the human mind and soul, so bizarre. Very complicated anime near the end, and the final 2 episodes are just inexplicable.

I was wondering about Hellsing Ultimate. Is that a second series of the show?

FrighT MasteR
07-16-2009, 02:23 AM
It's pretty much a remake. It follows the manga closer and the animation is slicker, and violence is kicked up a notch. Although the regular series was good, it didn't follow the manga much, and to be honest, dragged on at times.

With Ultimate since each episode is an OVA, the creators don't waste any time, so all the eps are action packed. Sadly, since the original distributor closed shop, Ultimate had to go to another company, which delayed the release of the 5th volume, which I'm still waiting on :myhead:

K.I.N.G
07-18-2009, 01:12 AM
Both. I've read up on the series and the movies, a little confusing as to the order you're supposed to watch them. I think it's the first two movies, the first series, the third movie follows the first series storyline, the second series, then they have other movies that recap the first and second series in a two hour movie, then a re release of the first movie remastered and stuff. I think that's all I remember :whew:

How did you like the movies?

FrighT MasteR
07-18-2009, 02:50 AM
I've only seen the two movies not directly affiliated with the series. First was aight, liked the 2nd.

Yes, I know what you mean. The fillers of "Monster", while interesting, only serve to bring the main characters into situations where morality and redemption are called for, and yet we already GET what they're trying to establish under the theme of good and evil. The plot is sorta substantial, but from what I'm seeing now, it's essentially just Tenma following Johan from town to town. It seriously needs to pick up.

From the last FULL episode of "Bleach" I saw, I was around the part when Nel and her friends were introduced. And she spat up on Ichigo to heal him or whatever. But, as I've said, I've really fallen behind. I've missed many episodes since, and quite a bit in between.

Watched Devilman OVAs again last night. Too bad theres only 2 episodes. Story doesnt make much sense and the main character is bit Mary Sueish, but it has gore, monsters and a lot of boobs so who am I to complain?

Reminded me of Go Nagai's pre-Devilman called Demon Lord Dante which is....pretty bad. Its like the guy was reading the bible and watching godzilla movies after eating a bucket full of magic mushrooms. It has WTF-value to it though. Good film for if you just want to go all "WTF" on the movie.

Reminds me of the manga Dragon Head, where couple of survivors get stuck in a cave with a crashed train, because a huge super volcano erupted violently in the middle of Japan. Great mix of psychological horror and catastrophe-manga.

I dunno, it was somewhat boring. Manga version is better.

Author's other manga work "Tokyo Akazukin (Tokyo Red Hood)" is right up there with my top 10 list of the sickest comics I've read.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I dont recommend reading Tokyo Red Hood unless you can stomach images of loli rape mixed with satanistic rituals and cannibalism.
