I just recently picked up a pretty cool book called The Living Dead... a collection of short stories all having to do with the walking dead... It's got over thirty stories from famous authors, including Clive Barker, Stephen King, Laurel K Hamilton, Joe Lansdale, George R. R. Martin, Poppy Z. Brite, David Schow...

Just a shitload of kick-ass stories... Not all of the stories are "romero-esq" zombie stories but all have some sort of zombie theme to them....

So far, my fave is the Joe Lansdale story, Deadman's Road, that introduces the character, Reverend Jebediah, a gun-toting minister that absolutely hates God, but knows to defy God is to end up in eternal damnation, so He fights evil in God's name, where ever he finds it... I finished the story and I just wanted MORE... I was like, "GodDAMN, I want know what other shit the Rev has dealt with..."

Well, I went back and read the introduction to the story and found out, the character has a full novel written about him called "Dead In The West", which I can't wait to get my hands on!

Anyhoo, I just thought I'd throw this particularly meaty bone to you all... If you love zombie-laden literature, I think you'll dig this book... I'm only half-way through it and I'm LOVING IT!!!

Damn! After reading it I started a local search on web book stores but looks like this will be hard to hunt here.... (you can't imagine the things I had to do to get my copy of Zombie Survival Guide and World War Zombie....)

I'm always apprehensive about these anthologies because more often than not I end up disliking more of the stories than enjoying them. I may check this out someday.
