Has anyone managed to get their low-budget project out there? I'm not talking about self-distribution, unless of course you are actually moving units. I'm talking about paid distribution through a legit (even if it is low-end) distributor, whether it be international, U.S. only -- whatever.
Unfortunately, I have not managed to have a good experience in this department. BIOPHAGE is still languishing in the 9th Hell of non-distribution. Someone please cheer me up with a good story about your successes... and if anyone has a list of potential low-budget distributors that I may have missed, by all means, share.

They are actually a decent company...when they fuck you in the ass on monetary issues they at least use some lube. It also was picked up by a separate distribution company for a theatrical release in India this past Christmas. Apparently it did alright, nothing special but didn't bomb. As for U.S. it's a fucking tough market man...especially without any "known" actors. It's gotten some interest and positive feedback but none of them are willing to pay anything for them anymore in this economic state...not even lionsgate and they used to be the king of shitty DTV movies.

This isn't about distribution, but you would like BIOPHAGE to play on a small film festival here in Sweden that I might be arranging?

Try Troma. They've got an audience, all their films are available through netflix, you won't make much $$ but you'll get biophage out there.

Met - PM'ed you.
Choppy - Troma? Aaaaaaaargh! Been trying to stay away from them, but I have definitely been keeping them "in reserve..." I may just break down and send it out to them. Sound advice, though. As long as people see it. I know I'm certainly not going to make money on the film.

I believe they're a division of WB for DTV cheapies.
I'm enrolled at Full Sail for film currently and the some of the lighting instructors made this film, Delivery( a slasher with a pizzaboy), shot on an XL-2. it got distributed through them, and has the Warner Bros. logo before it.

Have you tried sending it to Brain Damage Films? I know they don't really have the best track record when it comes to the quality of their films, but they're really honest and nice guys and they always get into best buy and FYE

My friend Jon Skocik got his film THE TRAVELER distributed through Brain Damage. Again, that's in the "iron reserve" column right now. But I'm getting close...
