Nekromantik *SPOILERS*

Uuuggggghhh. One of the worst underground horror movies ive ever seen if not the worste. Which was very dissappointing because it came so highly recommended. Essentially this film isnt even a horror movie, its a weird german love story between two necrophiliacs. Beyond having a suspense factor of zero, the movie is BOREING! Here is the entire storyline. 1. Guy and girl are necrophiliacs, 2. guy brings home dead body, 3. girl falls in love with dead body and leaves guy, 4. guy kills himself, THE END. Im no spring chicken, after all the underground horror movies ive seen its hard to make me cringe, but the rest of the movie is just filler of scenes you really dont want to see. Oh and dont forget the obvious weird German symbolism that permeates the film as if the filmmakers beleived they were creating some avant garde art film, which comes off as forced and meaningless. The only good scene in the movie, and the only scene that really relates to horror at all is at the end when the deutch-bag finally kills himself, and even so, the scene looks fake as hell. I cannot for the life of me understand why someone would recommend this film. Its not edgy, or innovative, or provocative, its just a slow, boreing, weird, german film. I cant even bring myself to give it one star.

This movie was greatness..wow, the music the fantastic. There's so much more to be had than just corpse-fucking. It's a great metaphor for lost love and for how loneliness can drive a man to the brink of sanity. It's so bloodly artistic. Nekromantik lives up to its reputation as a groundbreaking classic of the modern horror film.

My second response to you, was to point out that it was ridiculous that you called me an asshole because you said I called you an asshole for not liking the movie. Which wasn't the case at all. You're an asshole because your initial post reeks of arrogance, and made the comment, "I cannot for the life of me understand why someone would recommend this film." Signifying that because you believe the movie is bad, therefor it is, and anybody who enjoys it is wrong. That makes you an asshole.

Secondly I had no desire to argue your supposed "valid points" because they were not valid points but merely your opinion. In your opinion, you thought the movie was worthless. Fine. I personally don't give a shit what you think, and if you hate it, then you hate it. Doesn't bother me. Your arrogant and vapid attempt at sounding intelligent by attacking the artistic elements of the movie, did though.

Hard to argue against your points when you made no points. It's symbolism and as you put it, "attempts at being avant-garde" failed, why is that? The only argument that I could possibly come up with to challenge such a shallow thought would at best be, "Na-uh."

The only point you made, or what I could find in your post is that you didn't like Nekromantik because it was to boring, weird and wasn't true horror. Once again, what am I suppose to argue against? That you had set expectations for the movie and because it did not meet them, it wasn't good? I could argue as to why you didn't like it but it's just your opinion about the movie, and holds no more water than my own. I didnt like the movie, and i gave a very short description as to why I have that opinion (I didnt feel like writing a thesis about it, didnt think it was required). I enjoyed Nekromantik. It's a dark and offbeat story of a man obsessed with death. How can you possibly go wrong with that? Oh, and it's got corpse fucking too.
I know the fx in the final scene were extremely ropey but it still makes me cringe every time because, no matter who you are and what you're into, you never want to cum blood.
If you liked it, check out Schramm - a tale of a masochistic sex maniac who has a strange fixation with his leg. It's by the same director.

Personally I liked this movie. It's a movie studded with controversy, is sickly, slow, suffocating and almost documentary. Fucking with corpses. Erotic gore? Hell yes!!!

This was the first Underground film I saw. This movie got me to look further into these types of films. So here I am today..willing to look above and beyond the mainstream.

I agree. I actually like the parts, where the 2 main characters just visited the fair, etc, whereas most people found them to be boring. They were there to prepare you for THAT ending.

The scene, which has always stuck with me in Nekromantik is when Rob goes to the cemetery with the hooker. When she is in an animated state, he can't get hard to engage in sexual intercourse. But as soon as she's dead his "thing" gets hard as fast as lightning and off he goes :elstare:

Nekromantik is a great movie that was far more appreciated when it first came out for one main reason. I had to work to see this film back then! Not like today where everything is instant gratification and disposable. It took me months to track down a trace of this film back in the early 90's. And once I got my hands on a copy I enjoyed it for the sick fuck it was because back then no one else went that far. It didn't have to come close to the brilliant AfterMath because it was years before it.
