Anthropophagus 2000 is a 1999 remake of the 1980 film by Joe D' Amato. It was written and director by low budget German filmmaker Andreas Schnaas, who most underground fans will know from his Violent Shit fame.
ANPS2000 is cheap, crude, incoherent and riddled with plot holes.....but you can't help but have a smile on your face the whole time watching it.
With a 70 minute run time it cuts out most the boring scenes that plagued the original and moves at a brisker pace. The death scenes are over the top and clearly dummies but it adds to the charm. I don't know how Schnaas manages to make movies that people SHOULD clearly hate but they end up somewhat enjoying. A master of underground cinema and the so bad it's good genre, who needs to make another movie ASAP. If your reading this Andreas you have our support!

I'm a big fan of Schnaas and this film is the only one missing in my DVD collection except for Zombie '90, which I can find fairly easy. A2000 is a good film though! And I will get it one day... I could get it right away, but it's the wrong release.

Fuck plot holes. There is one reason and one reason only to watch a Schnaas movie, and it certainly isn't for a compelling, well told story.

That's the one I want too. Had the chance to buy it when I met Schnaas, but I was getting short on cash. Same goes for when it's on Ebay. But one day.

I love the Joe D'Amato original. And always enjoy the work of Schnaas. But for some reason I haven't seen this one yet.. very soon though.

I'd love to see his skills put to the test in a full length feature! Great shorts!

I actually found Inner Depravity to be rather boring. I mean, the effects are good, but it feels way too "Oh look at me! Look how gruesome I can be!". Sure, still wouldn't mind a full length though.
