UHM is 10 years old!!!!!!

I was just a soon-to-be sophomore in high school when my love for the genre resulted in UHM back in June 24th of '99. Now it's 10 years later and the F'n site is still online, WTF!!??? I'm just as surprised as you are, because I sure-as-hell never expected this little hobby of mine to last so long, but here it is anyway :yfreaked:

Hopefully the site still has another decade of movie critiquing, reporting, and zombie-killin' left in it, because I don't plan on quitting anytime soon, especially when there's so many piece-o-crap movies to warn you all about and undead left to clean up.

Alittle over a year ago..unknown to me..I'd google '' upcoming horror movies'' and UHM appeared. Thanks for this wonderful site. I have learned so much and meet so many awesome people...and FrighT MasteR, all kidding aside...you have done a wonderful job..this site is the most classiest, informitive and the best looking one on the internet..Thankyou for bringing UHM to me.

This site is a part of my daily routine, and I don't see that changing anytime soon..

Thinking back to the summer of '99 the message board didn't even have the ability to login or register an account, let alone all of the features that we take for granted today. Fright worked hard for years to implement some of the things that work so seamlessly now such as chat and board updates.

Back then there was much bickering on the board, people impersonating others, etc. I remember one day I came back and you had to register for the board and I didn't bother for like 2 weeks. Almost never did.

Things changed quickly as people registered and got to know eachother. There were people who visited the site and never bothered with the message board and vice-versa. Many people hung around and didn't talk horror much at all. The people have come and gone from those days but the personality of the site and message board remains the same. And that is driven by you FrighT.

As the number of forums started to grow I think FrignT got sick of seeing his name as moderator on them all so he started reaching out and letting others have some of the responsibility. Some took this as a way to get more involved, bring creative ideas and some took it as mere power. Some took it as both, as I did.

I remember one time FrighT announced that he was moving to a new house and asked me to mod his forums "for a couple of days". No problem until like 2 weeks went by before he was back online. Was starting to think he wasn't coming back.

I'll say that the biggest mistake people make on here is to believe that how long they've been around, how many posts they have, or what forums they moderate somehow makes them better or more important than others. We were all noobs at some point.

Personality of the board formed slowly over time. First on the message board itself, then on instant messenger, and the various primitive chat programs. Now there is much more than that but from what I can see, the personality remains strong. Many have tried to recreate the magic by leaving and creating their own boards. Only problem was that they didn't have the content of the UHM site to attract new members and keep coming back.

No need to thank you FrighT because you do what you do for your own reasons, as we all do but I wanted to take a few minutes and appreciate what you do, recognize how far you've come and the work it took, and think back on some of the funny times over the past 10 years.

Looking forward to the next 10 and making sure UHM is always Top of the Food Chain.

Not surprised this site is still here after 10 years. When I first joined way back in 2000 I knew there was something special about this place. Everyone I've introduced this place to feels the same way.

Besides being an informative site due to the hard work put in by Fright daily, one of the most unique characteristics of UHM is the relationship with message board members. There are many people here who I have been talking to for years...feels like family at times. Met a few members in person and have spoken to many more on the phone. Never thought that would happen when I first joined. Pretty cool.
Being mod for GC and the Music forums has been alot of fun too.

Proud to be part of a site that focuses on a genre that I love....Horror. And IMO, does it better than anyone else on the net. Congratulations Fright on a job well done. :coolbeer:

I may not have been on this site long, but damn if I can't get enough of it. Your site has been a favorite of mine for at least 5 years, but I gotta tell ya; the recent changes in format, menus and links has been confusing and not at all an improvement. Go back to the way it was a year ago. It was the best then. Comics2film made changes too and they weren't any better and they lost me as a visitor for ever.
