Twelve year old Oskar is an outsider.he struggles to fit in at school and is left to fend for himself whilst his mother works nights. His life is made no better due to the constant bullying he receives at school. They seem intent on causing much grief, and to make a point that he really is nothing to them.taunting him by calling him PIGGY and making him squeal like one with regular beating
He spends his time at home watching tv,listening to music and studying Serial Killers. He does this as he fancies himself as a killer of some sort.Committing the prefect murder and finding ways of how he can get away with it.As we all know,at twelve years old, life never deals us the hand that we always wanted.
One evening he notices from his window the arrival of new neighbours. This being the mysterious Eli,and her companion. They meet, and begin a friendship like no other.
They become friends almost immediately, and spend every waking moment that they can together.
A spate of murders begin around the Stockholm area and Qskar seems to piece together the deaths with the arrival of his new friend. This is when he discovers Eli's secret. She is in fact a 200 year old vampire. This doesn'ty scare him off,but in fact strengthens their relationship even further.
Eli gives Oskar the courage to face up to his bullies, overcoming the threats and taunts he gets everyday to the point where he exacts revenge....

This book is an amazing read.I couldn't put it down.It reminds us all that not all children are as innocent as we think. The story gives us more to grasp and is described in much better detail than the film ever could. It's more grotesque with the descriptions that ,makes the story more disturbing.
I can safely asy it's one of the best books I have read for a long time.It reminded me of what my childhood was like when I was growing up,and I am happy to say, throughout all the bullyings,it's made me a better person, and to ignore those that judge you for all the wrong reasons.
Read this book if you haven't already.
Peace.
