Computer issues...again

Now this Toshiba laptop is only 8 months old and before I hooked it up on campus, it was still perfectly running.

Literally this week, something new goes wrong everyday it seems, I have an appointment with IT tomorrow, but thought I would throw out the issues I am having and see if anyone has any input...

On Windows Security Center, it usually says that my antispyware is not being monitered and there is nothing wrong with that since I monitor it myself. But it is telling me my antivirus (avast) is out of date and needs to be updated. IT is updated and it still says that, so this goes into my next issue...

Windows Vista Service Pack 2, I thought this was the issue since it hasn't be installed on this laptop, I go to update to it and an error occurs every single time and it converts back to my system I had before attempting to install it.

Then...

My internet connection is odd. It literally works but it won't let me access it via Internet Explorer if I get offline and then attempt to get back on 10 minutes later. I have to restart the laptop for it to let me access it. (I am currently on Google Chrome and I don't like it)

And now I am getting a weird popup saying I can't save a document onto another everytime I go into Word 2007...

Any of this issues familiar?

Apparently this is not uncommon with Vista and AVAST, technically there is nothing "wrong" and your antivirus is up to date but Vista won't keep it's stupid nose out of your business. Since I don't have Vista I can't give you specific instructions on how to tell the Security Center that you have your own AntiVirus software and you dont want it to constantly check for updates but there is a setting in Security Center somewhere to turn it off.

this sounds like a problem, there should be no reason that a Service pack update doesnt install, are you downloading the correct version? You have Vista 64 bit if I remember right, make sure you are downloading the correct 64 bit update.

Are you clicking "Save as" then picking the same file that's open? That wont work. You have to just click "Save" when trying to update a file. "Save as" is for creating new files.

None of your issues are related and shouldnt have anything to do with each other, unless its some weird virus.

I started to put Backstreet Boys pictures and posters on my walls because they were the only true positive thing in my life. I could look at them before I get up in the morning or when I am about to fall asleep and have a smile on my face. Sure that might sound a bit obsessive, but that was me. I loved my room because it was a reflection of me and still is. Knowing I would have to take some down years later didn't really bother me because when a kid is in the 4th grade, college is forever away. But recently I compromised with my mother and if I cleaned my room up real good and took the posters and pictures of my front door I could keep the rest up. I was ecstatic, because quite frankly there are a lot of posters and pictures in my room. So today was the day the front side of my bedroom door has been bare and naked in YEARS. As weird as it sounds, I was a bit sad taking all the stuff off. It was like a part of me just was being shoved in a container somewhere and left to collect dust. Sure most of you will say I am 21 and I need to move on, but why? Why do I have to move on? The posters and pictures weren't hurting anybody, they were a reflection of myself and now my self is semi-hurting right now. I know its just a door, but it is MY door and I shouldn't even had to take them off in the first place. The reason my mother let me keep the rest of the stuff up was I explained to her, I need a place of comfort. A place of my own…a dorm isn't going to be, my room is the only place that has truly been mine my entire life. Why is it necessary to remove items from my room and that make me feel less comfortable? She understood and I thought my door idea was brilliant. But I am sitting here typing this wishing my door was back to its old self. Call me crazy, I don't care…


I think this is a prime example of what a pack rat is, can you imagine 20 years from now a storage unit by my house completely filled to the brink with Backstreet Boys stuff? I can…
