I got fired from a bunch o' bullshit jobs when I was a kid but never faced losing a job that I loved and worked hard to get (college) This week was close. My company had to let go of 4 people out of the 6 that were on the "list."
I knew I was one of the people on the list from my boss ( 1 of 3 ) who is also a good friend. If I didn't put in an extra FREE 15 hours this week I prolly would be unemployed today.
Can't imagine what that would feel like, being asked to leave because the economy is so fucked that I gotta sit home on my ass and wait/hope for things to get better. :whew: Anyone get burned yet? (lose their jobs)
I feel for you people, those who did.

Being as I am bi-polar I have quit and been fired soooo much. Dont work anymore not an option. I remember when I was working at Mcdonalds I locked my manager in the freezer, took her own keys and did it. told her I quit walked out and trew her keys in the dumpster. Got fired from many places for looking to "Pissed off" and I honestly wasnt. places like pick`n`save, wallmart, and dukes. My Doctor recommended that I dont work.

Never been fired from a job. I have quit a couple however, but never without having a job to replace the one I've quit. Since the job I have supplies food related products to local food chains, grocery stores and just about all the pizza joints my job is secure until everyone stops eating

Yea I've lost a job, woke up one morning and couldn't find the some bitch! Took me the whole day to find that asshole.
But nah never lost a job, I usually quit before I get fired. My first job was bein' a dishwasher, Came in at 7AM Ate my breakfast and then walked out and never came back. Had to get that free breakfast!

I was working for a company doing utility mark outs, and wanted to pursue being a state corectional officer. Anyway, one of the steps was you had to have your past 10 years of employers fill out a survey about you. Well my current company didn't like that. Fast foward a month, and I get called out due to a damaged wire that I miss marked. Your allowed 2 damages a year (as long as they are relatively inexpensive) that was my first in 3 years. They fired me for that... thing that sucks is corrections didn't take me due to being fired from my previous job. A few friends still worked for the copany afterwards, and one of them got a damage a week later that was 10 times as expensive.

I guess you could say I did lose one in a technical sense. A few years ago, I had started working for a supermarket seafood department since I was taking a personal leave from college. I was going through personal issues at the time. So much so that I couldn't go through with work some days and left early. I lasted about two weeks there. I had called in one day saying that I couldn't make it in because I was having emotional relapses. The manager was not very understanding whatsoever (even from the beginning when this started to happen), nor was I expected him to. He then proceeded (mind you still in the state that I was) to scold me how much time he wasted into hiring me when finally he said, if you quit now I won't mention that I fired you on record. So I took it for what it was and quit.

Never once been fired, although I came close once.
I've always pretty much just stayed at jobs for two or three years and just walked out. I'm actually quite glad that I've accustomed myself to this as I've seen so many become miserable after they've come to what I like to refer to as "the five year curse".

Thankful that I've never had to deal with being canned, especially these days.
Unfortunately, mine is a growth industry in times like this; never a shortage of people being shitty towards their kids.

Only job I ever "lost" was when I worked for Arby's.
A "supervisor" felt threatened by mi madre.
Long story, but.. I got "let go."
But hey, I got $600 out of it =]

Nah never lost a job. I've quit the couple of jobs I've had mostly due to not liking how the company is managed. I always felt I had a better way of doing things. Never quit without a job lined up though.

I was working at a supermarket on cash and I robbed that place blind, food, money energy drinks(lol). stole well over a thousand bucks, so they eventually caught on and I got charged. I regret nothing, fuck'em. :finger3: Made good use of that money, namely rent.

^ Yeah, stick it to those motherfuckers!
But seriously, I was fired once. It was my first job at a SHITTY KFC (thankfully shut down and replaced by a Sonic.) It was my first job ever and everyone basically treated me like shit; I lasted less than a month.
Since then, I mostly floated around to other fast-food chains, namely Mickey D's (not too bad; lasted nearly a year) and BK (almost as shitty as KFC; quit after a month). Now I'm not a bad position at CVS Caremark. The hours kinda suck (10 and a half hours of standing and barely moving), but at nearly $10 an hour, compared to my old wages of barely $7.35, I'm not complaining...much.

I was 17 and got fired from a flooring company for getting stoned at work and hitting on the boss' daughter.
Same company: another guy gets fired for taking a dump in a wastebasket at a customer's house (water was shut-off while work was being done.). Dude actually left it there too, wasn't hard to figure out who it was since he was the only one who had been in the house for 3 days. Trifling bastard.
I knew so many people who got fired from that place for the funniest shit. They're actually pretty big out here but knowing the type of jerks they hire I would never let them work in my house.

:shakefist:CVS CAREMARK!!!!
Gotta work all weekend sitting at a construction site watching an empty building because our security company "Cannot provide any coverage at this time"!!!!
Otherwise I did have to quit a couple of jobs. 1 was working for a cinema that gave me a shirt 2 sizes too small and told me they wouldn;t be able to get my size. Worked to days and it was rather embarrassing serving the attractve woman that came in.
The other was at a bread factory where they tried having me do a 2 man job alone. When the line got backed up the foreman told me i had to pick up the pace. I told him to fuck off and walked.

I guess you could you call this technically losing a job too. Got laid off from my current job about a year ago since they were making cut backs. They rehired me this past May since the girl they had replace me was not working out and really wanted me back. :D

I got laid off from a large bearing manufacturer when they canned about 30 other engineers one day and another 30 the next and so on for a couple weeks. Pretty much wiped out the entire automotive division because of some of the higher-up's bad decision making. It was pretty devastating since I loved that job and was getting good at it.
Stayed out of work for 2 months and built a patio for my parents before I applied for another design engineering job. Quit that dump after 2 years for the one I'm at now with higher pay and more job satisfaction.

The thing happening now is Business owners know they dont have to settle for employees that just do enough to get by,so now they can start letting people go because they know there are going to be more qualified people waiting taht will work for starting pay.
I actually saw a memo from a major corporation that's kind of a parent company for the one I work for saying something similar to this.

I actually saw a memo from a major corporation that's kind of a parent company for the one I work for saying something similar to this. Not surprising at all. Between the glut of available workers and the need to cut overhead costs it's almost a necessity.

I more or less didn't lose my job, but rather my ENTIRE career field. I used to be a home loan officer. Both billion dollar companies I worked for went down and bankrupt once all the shit hit the fan in regard to bad loans. 2 other companies I was going to start working for also went bankrupt right before I was about to start.
Needless to say, I'm not looking to extend my career in real estate any time soon. In fact, I'm currently going back to college for my associate degree in Paralegal studies.
