I've been having this problem for like two months now and its driving me crazy. Right now, I have high speed dsl, 256k, which I know isnt alot, but since I've gotten it hooked up, I've been having this problem where when I download anything, the fastest it downloads is 26kbps, and the internet will barely work. I keep getting stuff like, internet explorer cant find the page, and this page does not exist. Anyway, I've had the company here twice to fix it, and they cant figure it out either. I was looking at my network conections in task manager and it said it was only utilizing .26% of my connection. Again, I know 256 isnt the fastest, but if I'm only using 12-26 to download something, the internet shouldnt run slower then dial up. Anyone else on here ever have this problem, or know of any way to fix it?

Did they run a virus scan because everytime mine does something like that it means somethings attached.
I would Download Malwarebytes and run it.

How are you downloading? If you're using torrents sometimes uploading more than downloading can slow down your connection a great deal.

Well, I do download torrents ocasionaly, but I havent been uploading any because of that reason, also, as far as viruses, I got the computer the same time I got the internet setup, so it shouldnt have had any since it was brand new, but I shall try a scan on it all the same.
Edit: Using Frostwire to dl a few songs right now, but its only using 17kbs and my internets lagging horribly...

Are you using any sort of firewall?
Do this test and copy-paste the link with your results here when you're done:

Wow, that's pretty bad :stare:
What company are you with? Are you using a router? Have they tried replacing your modem or ethernet cables?

I have a local company right now, south cannan telephone, But they were here twice, checked the modem, checked the cables, everything. I dont have a router, so that cant be it. I just cant figure it out for the life of me. I've had problems with connections before, but I always figured it out and fixed it, but this one keeps vexing me.:myhead:
I cant find any reason on the computer that it should be doing this. I even changed all my torrent and frostwire settings thinking it was eating up unnessasary bandwidth, but even that did nothing

Why don't you just try going with a different ISP? If you're not getting what you pay for, maybe it's time to switch.

We've been talking about switching that for like 3 weeks the only problem is we get our phone and tv in the same package, so its probably going to be quite a headache figuring it all out. probably just going to go through verizon again, never really had a problem with them.

I wouldnt tolerate that kind of speed drop, I'd call them up and tell the phone company to fix it or you're switching

I hate my internet. It's this new company in Portland called "Clear". It sucks, but I don't have any other options at this point.
