Can anyone recommend a good digital camera in the $100 - $150 price range.

Was looking at this one. Saw it for $149.99 by me.

I'm a big fan of the Canon Powershot series. LOTS of options from "point and click" on up to manually adjusting aperture and shutter speed and other settings that photography people like to adjust.

Amazon has a 12MP model right now with a list price of $149.99 : LINK (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-A1100IS-Stabilized-Silver/dp/B001SER4BK/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1255834589&sr=1-9)

I did the "Add to cart to see price" and it came up $136.66.

I have an 8MP and my wife has been using her 5MP forever - and getting beautiful pictures out of it. She made one 14x11 from hers that was gorgeous. 12MP is probably overkill for most needs, but it's still in your range.

Thanx LB. I don't know that much about cameras. How do you feel the Canon matches up to the Panasonic I listed?

I honestly don't know off hand.

The PowerShot probably has more "at your fingertips" settings. It also runs off a pair of Double-A batteries so you can get some new ones in a pinch. That Panasonic has their own proprietary thing which may not be so forgiving. You can get a charger with 4 rechargeable AA batteries at Wal-Mart for $13 right now, and still be ahead. In fact, you would have a spare set of batteries too.

My wife is a former professional photographer who has spent years working in a family-owned photo lab up in the nice part of town. She made me promise not to tell you who some of the clients were, but I've also met her former boss and have every reason to believe it's true.

And as far as this range goes, she loves the PowerShot. Then again, she's lusting after the $1500 prosumer cameras.

I have a couple friends into photography and at that price range there are 2 choices you can't go wrong with...Canon and Sony.

I have had 2 powershots and love em.
