True Blood
The Deathless Roamer - Chapter 1
Vic drove in silence as he neared the Seattle city limits on his way south while the last flickers of day light ended. Once again, he would simply get food, rest, find trouble and get whatever cash he can and journey on, that's all he'd ever done for the past Century and a half.
He knew his continued existence was slap in the face of whatever great father existed; his very breath right now was a continued act of defiance. And with the coming out of Vampires in the last few years, the best he could figure it was that Death was being shown in the world as a means to rub it into his face.
Whatever it was, he knew it would throw trouble at him, and he would do what he did best: beat what some said couldn't be beaten and move along.
As he entered the city from the north, he turned on his radios and scanners in his truck, hoping to get a good feed on the crime rate. He'd managed to create transmitters in the back of the truck that could pick up stronger feeds and find anything he could.
As he flipped through the channels, he got the usual emergencies that didn't interest him.
"Robbing at Grocery outlet at SW Avenue, suspect on foot" said one.
Another picked up "Greece Fire at family home, requiring emergency assistance."
Too common and waist of his time, he had no need to play hero and he longed to find dangerous criminals, not petty thieves. Bastards could always be counted on to put his life at risk.
Finally, after searching, he found something. "Vampire being held captive by Anti-Vampire group nears the docks. Maker of the Vampire has ordered the woman be held for disobedience until they decide to act."
Now that Vic had his destination, he pulled out his cell phone and began punching in directions.
***
Veronica was trapped, bound by silver chains. The pain never seemed to null no matter how long it burned into her ankles and wrists. On occasion, they take silver needles and blades and puncture her flesh for fun.
The warehouse wasn't far from people, in fact a bar was just down the dock about a few minutes walk. As to why no one had heard her and come running had her confused, anyone could of heard her screaming for the last hour, and these men and women where laughing at it as if it where some comedy played out before them.
When she looked to her left, Veronica saw a blond haired woman lower down with some True Blood, holding it slowly over her mouth.
"Thirsty?" she asked.
Slowly, she turned it over and barely let a drop fall from the bottle. Of course though, she let it drop on her chin so far away her tongue couldn't reach it. She then through it against the wall and laughed along with the others.
Another man stood over her with both feet on each side of her waist. Slowly, he kneeled down with a stake in his hand ran the edge up and down her chest, from her the line of her cleavage to her jaw.
"Want us to end it yet?" asked the man.
"What the fuck did I ever do to you?" asked Veronica. "Your not part of that shitty Fellowship of the sun church are you?"
They all laughed even louder, and then the man said "Oh, this isn't about God or Satan, as far as I know they can just kiss it. No, this is about the Food Chain Bitch. For years, man has worked hard to get to top and you fang fuckers just come and steal it?"
Shaking his head, the man continued "No, this world is ours, and we're not giving it to you."
Before he could continue, one of the men looking out the window said "Yo, someone's pulling in with at truck. He's coming strait for our place."
The man over her looked at another and said "Deal with whoever it is. Don't get violent unless necessary, we don't need the pigs dealing with us."
***
As he turned off the engine, Vic could see clearly that his presence was already known. Not that it made much of a difference; he'd been in far worse scenarios and come out with minor injuries.
While stepping out, he saw a man coming out of the warehouse slowly and walking with haste strait to him. He looked physically imposing, but he had no idea what he was walking into.
"If you need directions Mr. I can direct to 'Get the fuck out of here' Lane right now."
With a chuckle, Vic simply said "I believe I'm right where I wish to be. I do believe as well that you're holding a Vampire in there."
The man froze and said "You a fanged fucker too?"
After Vic simply shook his head, the man asked "Then you’re a Vampire Sympathizer, come to be hero."
"Wrong again." said Vic "I don't give a shit about Vampires, and I'm no hero."
"Then what's your business here?" he asked as he got right up to him.
"Well…" said Vic as he composed what to say "I'm here just looking for a fight, let you get the impression that you have the upper hand, let you try and kill me, then kill you in a fashion you won't see coming and then steal your money and any other goods I'll need before I leave."
With a confused look, the man said "Say that again?"
"I'm just an asshole wanting to fight and kill, and I chose you because you'd clearly kill that Vampire, so you'll try…keyword, try, to kill Me." said Vic in a smug way.
The man the reached behind him and pulled out a rather large cutting knife and got into a fighting position. "I believe Yoda said there is no Try, its do or do not."
With a large Smile, Vic simply said "I do believe you are correct."
***
Slowly, a younger woman, most likely a good 17 years old, lowered down with a cross of silver and held just above Veronica's naval. After some teasing, she finally pressed it hard into her stomach, fallowed by a loud scream.
After releasing it, the man who was obviously the leader, looked at his clock and asked "Ok, we got several hours till dawn, how you all want to be killed, by sunlight or by stake?"
Before any of them could answer, a red wet object went flying through the window at high speed. After it rolled and slowed, everyone could see what it was: a heart, a human heart freshly removed.
While the women screamed, the men got up and looked out the window. Out there, the man who arrived was seen dropping the body of there ally into the water and hurrying back to the building.
Veronica watched as they hurried to the door and charged out, weapons in hand. Only the 3 females remained. Silently, Veronica hoped help had finally come.
***
Even though Vic was rather heavy set, he moved with the speed of an animal almost. While the men pointed and shouted as he ran past to the side of the building. After running some ways down, he turned right and ran into the wood wall.
It might as well of been cardboard, for as he ran, his strength broke through the wall with ease as splinters of wood went everywhere. Quickly he turned and scaled to some of the crates of boxes. As the first man was running into the hole, Vic pushed the 890lbs crate with only a little trouble, making it fall on the man and killing him easily. It also served as a blockade to the other men.
With them stopped, he quickly jumped down and hurried to the bright side of the warehouse where the vampire was being held. Moving slowly and stealth like, he could already see the 3 women who had no chance at all, 2 would die tonight, while the other would live but still suffer, do to her youth.
***
Veronica kept her eyes glued to the door; she kept hoping that help would come soon through there. The young girl leaned next to the door, her once sadistic smile melted away to a look of pure fear, as she relies her actions could come back to haunt her now.
Suddenly, she heard noises the other way. Looking, she saw the 2 other women being held from the back of there necks up in the air by a man. He was wearing heavy boots, carheart pants, a work shirt and a long heavy jacket. She also noticed his eyes where almost completely different, one brown and the other light green.
Then suddenly with ease, he gave pressure to there neck and snapped them with hardly any work, killing them instantly. The young girl cowered against the wall in fear of her life. Slowly, the man walked over towards her, stepping over Veronica as if she wasn't there.
"Please don't kill me, please don't kill me, please, please…" she wined as she began to sob.
Slowly, the man picked up a knife dropped from the floor and closed in on her. With hardly any emotion, he said "Death won't come for you tonight, but pain will."
Then quickly, he grabbed her and held her back. With 2 quick motions, the knife cut the girl from her forehead down, scaring both sides of her face that would no doubt last till death.
As he dropped the knife, the girl knelt screaming as blood flowed down her face.
Then suddenly, the men who came charging after him burst into the door. Before they even could figure out what happened the man grabbed the first intruder and pushed him so hard that he flew back, knocking everyone else back outside.
As he walked out, the door suddenly shut, and Veronica was alone, still tied to the Silver. She could hear though the screams coming outside. Men screaming of hatred, and then screaming in pain, all of them where screams from the men who had tortured her, none from the man who had attacked.
Then, the door burst open and the man who had been the leader of the whole ordeal came crawling into the room. His left arm hung limp and drug on the ground; he went crawling desperately for a fallen weapon. Slowly, the rescuer walked after him, and when the leader went to grab a weapon, he lifted his leg and stomped hard into his upper back, the sound of bones and organs crushing.
As he died, both Veronica and the girl watched in awe. Slowly, the man looked at the bleeding girl and motioned for her to leave. As she ran, he turned his attention to Veronica and asked "What's your name?"
"Ver….Veronica…are you one of us?" she asked
"No." he said simply.
"Who are you?" she asked.
"Vic Stein." he said. "And Before I release you, I do require some favors for me saving you."
Quickly, her mind raced of what perverse sexual favors this man would ask, although do to him ending her torment; she might be a little willing to offer some fun of the flesh.
"Very well…please undo me, this hurts so much…" she said.
Leaning down, she saw him take the silver chains and snapped them with not much struggle from around her ankles. Then he moved up and did the same with the ones around her wrists. She noted though that he uses his bare hands to do, so he truly wasn't a Vampire. But then, what was he? Clearly not human, no human could posses such strength.
***
Mistress Esli drank slowly from the human servant. Vampires often bragged about True Blood, but the feeling of causing pain to a human could never be replaced Looking up, she saw the pain on his face and bit harder, causing more suffering.
Over her centuries, she'd learned to find unique pleasures in devilish activities, and with her life being eternal, no final judgment would ever fall onto her. The true gift of the Vampire was simply earning the right to be god. Do to her bribes to the local Sheriff; she could continue it with out fear of reprise from her own kind.
However, before she could continue to enjoy, her second hand, Liz cam walking. Removing her fangs, she looked over and said "You know damn well I don't like distractions from food, so you better have a good reason."
"I know madam…" said Liz. "But…someone saved Veronica."
Instantly, she was in her face with rage. Veronica was her youngest vampire she had turned, and was a bit rebellious to her demands. When it was reported she had been kidnapped, she demanded she be left to suffer in there hands and decide later to save the worthless girl or not. She even gave instructions to prevent human interference.
"It told the police clearly, that this was not there problem. Do they not-"
"It wasn't the police, nor was it another vampire." interrupted Liz.
"Then who helped her?" asked Esli.
"We….don't know. They left together into town about 20 minutes ago" Liz responded, a little afraid for her own safety now.
As she licked the blood of her lips, Esli contemplated what to do. Someone, for an un-known reason, interfered in her demonstration of power. She'd made examples before, with both humans and other creatures, even her own race, but she knew more then. She needed to know more now.
Looking at Liz, she said with a low tone "Collect them, both of them. I wan them both in this house before 3AM."
