Having Saving and Downloading problems on my PC

I figured asking you guys on here with help with my PC is my best bet before I have to talk to a friend of a friend about fixing my problem. Okay here's the problem, every time I try to Save As a picture or downloading anything my internet window closes itself and I get an error message from FireFox saying it crashed. So when this first happened I tried using Internet Explorer to see if it was just FireFox and I got the same thing, then I tried using Search and same thing again. So I'm not PC savy at all and I have no clue what's doing this, any ideas what's wrong?

Sounds like virus activity to me, check out Fright's "Comp running slow" sticky and download some of the anti virus/spyware stuff recommended there.

Also, re-install firefox.

I agree with strtfghtr, but with this problem, you may not be able to download the things in that thread either. You might wanna see if you can roll your computer back first. should be able to go to your control panel and find something to restore your computer to an earlier date.

System Restore to the earliest possible date, then install the Anti-virus and firewall in frights post.

yea definitely do a system restore and install anit-virus, because like everyone else i think it's a virus
