If Monster Squad had terrible cgi monsters. :soadeto:
I have yet to come across a movie that had Jack Black in it that I didn't like
I can't wait to see this. I hope its in 3d.
Having a kid this looks like a wicked fun halloween flick, that I cant wait to see with her:yes:
As far as people or shitty horror sites comparing the trailer with Monster Squad goes?. I just dont see it. Other than the fact its a scary youthful adventure tale. If thats the case you might as well compare this to Goonies,
I've never read any of the Goosebumps books, but my kid totally digs'em. :confident:.
From what ive heard and seen in this is A. ) most of the Monsters look fantastic. And B.) A good chunk of these are practical effects.:2thumbs:
I'll be hitting this up for sure with the fam.:rockin:
I loved the choose your own adventure ones as a kid. My two favorite were the wax museum one, and the one where they had a field trip in a dangerous jungle. They would tell you to flip to different pages. https://play.google.com/store/books/...0Aiw&gclsrc=ds
This looks like a fun film and I'll probably end taking my daughter to see it. I used to read all of the Goosebumps books when I was a kid. One of my favorites was Say Cheese and Die plus The Haunted Mask!
Movie was alright. Lots of plot holes, but being a kid's movie that shouldn't be taken seriously it gets a pass. 6/10
Plot holes aside. This was a Hella Fun Family Horror Popcorn Flick!:2thumbs:.
There's been numerous film makers who recently have been talking about trying to bring back the feel of the "Amblin" movies. Things like Goonies,Gremlins,E.T.( I would throw in Monster Squad for good measure too)
Christopher Columbus said that was the vibe they were goin for in Pixels. Now I like that movie, but it was missing the whole misfit kids on an adventure thing.
There are a few flicks though I would say come very close too hitting that "Amblin" vibe the last few years though. The first being Super 8, it nailed the misfit kid adventure. Another would be Michael Dougherty's Krampus, which I read an interview with him where he mentions the "Amblin" inspiration.
But for me, growing up on the "Amblin" films all of which I adore, by the way. Goosebumps felt like the closest thing to recreating that Vibe.
This is definitely worth checking out! Especially if ya got a family.
Loved it. Fun from start to finish.
