80s TV Pilot Satanist old-money family with shape-shifting black butler

I remember seeing a commercial of a TV Pilot for a series in the early 80's (1982-1986) most likely on NBC. The movie was about a Satanist old-money family. I remember vaguely the members of the family sitting around a fireplace in a mansion. There was also a black bald-headed butler who resembled the black man on Kubrick's The Shining. Later on the black butler was outside the family mansion and shape-shifted into a black dog (years before Snoop). The movie could have been called "The Family" but I didn't find anything similar on IMDB. I don't think the TV series ever got made. Do you happen to know the name of this movie?

It's called The Covenant and it was a pilot for a never-aired prime-time supernatural soap opera.
