I say good. I was never really a fan of the movies from the start. I'm all for a reboot, but do they really need to start all the way back at the beginning? Can't we just pick up the story in the middle of Spidey's life? A quick couple flash backs maybe a quick montage at the beginning (similar to the Incredible Hulk movie) and just go at it.
Throw in Mysterio at the beginning, A few scenes about Mary Jane but have Gwyn Stacy around too, Green Goblin for a main villain, and a hint at Venom or Lizard at the end. Boom Spiderman reboot.
This is great news for me because this might mean Venom get's a second chance to be done right later down the road.
This isn't a remake.... This is another adaptation of comic-book... This a "We fucked up on this shit and now we're gonna start over".... and that's just fine with me... What? Should they wait 20 years to try it again? Why would they? I waited 30 years for a Spiderman movie and it was pretty damned disappoinging... same with the sequels... I am tickled shitless that they are gonna drop that shit-bag series and have a do-over. Maybe they'll get it right this time.
Who knows... maybe they'll actually get a hot big-titty redhead to play mary jane this time!
Rust in Peace,
A spin-off Venom movie is already being made. Well...it was. That might change with the news of this Spiderman reboot, but it WAS in the process. In fact, they announced just a couple of weeks ago that the Zombieland writers turned in a Venom draft.
Ah yeah I know they're planning a Venom spin-off, but with this news they could wait until he's introduced in the rebooted Spidey series then do the spin-off. As long as he's done right on screen I'll be happy, also I want to see Carnage make an appearance in the rebooted series.
:mhehe: Word.
Doesn't matter what color Peter Parker's skin is, so I wouldn't care if he was black, but I would think it would be fucking absurd if a 40 year old Dave Chappelle were to play high school Peter, or Peter at all.
:straightface2: The TV show The Spectacular Spider-Man is the best adaptation of the character from the comics and he's a junior in high school there.
:whew: You just saved me from typing all that.
spiderman 2 was the only decent watchable film out of the trilogy. The 1st was bad and the 3rd was terrrible. Charles Barkley terrrrible. I say a reboot is the way to go too but filming within the next few years would not get my interest.
Some more fodder talk.

Some names thrown around in there.
I could see the mood going from overjoyed to total depression if Mr. Bay were given a go ahead with a different incarnation of Spidey.
Liked the idea of the first movie...the whole "my life totaly changes with a single fucking spider bite" thingy ..the second one was also cool, but the third...i dunno Raimi probably had brain damage. This is a good news actually...i wasn't actually jumping with joy when i herd the ideas being thrown around for the forth movie,so...go go spiderman reboot!
Sometimes, a franchise just needs to be put to rest. Spiderman is quickly becoming the "Sonic the Hedgehog" of the movie world, in my eyes. Just stop already, you keep fucking it up.
YEEESSSSS!!!! I'm so happy. Ever since Sam Raimi's shitfest that is Spiderman 3 he's been horrible. OK he's only done 1 other movie than that and it was Drag Me To Hell, but that movie was a puke endulging piece of shit too. I'm so freakiny happy he doesn't get to do Spiderman 4. They need to redo the franchise but at the same time don't do another origin movie, we know that one already. And no more Kirsten Dunst as MJ, thank god. I hated her as MJ. She wasnt always the damsel in destress you know. And MJ has a bit of an attitude, which Kirsten Dunst never played right. I can't wait for this to be given to someone else.
the beauty of making comic book movies is that they can be rebooted a thousand times over. How many different comic interpretations are out there of Spiderman? too many to count. so it really isn't a bad thing to do a reboot. personally i thought one and two were okay but three was a giant turd. maybe now Sam can get Evil Dead IV going but thats just wishful thinking
:tallman:
U know what, Michael Bay wouldn't be a bad choice for a director to direct spiderman. He knows how to give his audience a show.
Why is hollywood making all these fucking reboots? Have they really ran out of idea's.
I would be suprised to see a real big named director getting this. I'd think there going with a fresh face. And like they said on AOTS. The actor who will play spiderman is probably some unknown sitting in highschool right now. Toby McGuire was pretty unknown when he started spiderman.
South Park portrayed Bay the best.
