The Monster (2016) -
Liked it a lot. A very angst driven movie early on that transitions nicely into a tense and atmospheric horror flick.
It does a nice job of setting itself aside from the usual fare, and certainly isn't the standard horror trope.
The Monster is basically a character study serving a dual purpose. It not only effectively conveys the ways people tend to process, rationalize, and cope with the harshness and realities of the monsters we do know - (pain, sorrow, vices, family dysfunctions, etc.) ... but also on how we tackle the fears and unknowns that lurk within the deep recesses associative of the monsters we don't know... regardless whether they be real or figurative.
