I see what you mean, but I think when they say they're reinventing it for a new generation, they're remaking it in a way that'll preserve the actual horror element. Dawn of the Dead is one of the great horror movies America has, and when it first came out, on top of being a great movie in itself, it was scary. So if we're keeping the original Dawn of the Dead around, what's the harm in making a new version that may not be as good (though it isn't really bad) but preserves the fear that was associated with that title in the seventies but has since sort of dissolved?
I understand if you like them and all, I just can't see around the fact that it seems like stealing to me. I see it like if I were to recreate a famous piece of art but was to change a little bit here, or there, and say that it's ok because it's in my vision. Doesn't need to be done.
