Yup, and with only 4 networks carrying service into that shit hole country chances are they won't be able to download it
That's if we decide to give them back their pitiful network.

I like how the head of Sony, in his defensive statement after Obama called them all pussies, claimed they had no means of releasing the film electronically. Even Sony forgot that Crackle.com exists, lol.
I got a message tonight that my cousin got me and my brother tix already to see it at the Alamo on Saturday. I hope it's worth braving the NoKo Jihad for! After word went out that the Koreans lost access to the internet, this was spotted on reddit:

...all kidding aside, of course the G didn't hack them and there's still no real evidence that NoKo hacked Sony. I don't think they did there's just a lot of opportunism here and trolling on a global scale.
honestly with all the bullshit surrounding this....I've lost my interest in this flick :shrugs:
I'm not paying for it, so I'm good with it.

They're releasing it on youtube and other services for purchase and rental this week.
I just want to point out how right I was and that all of this "canceling" and "pulling" it business was a huge marketing win for Sony and got everyone in the country talking about it (including the President) and is the perfect opportunity for them to test the waters in direct digital releasing of a major motion picture.
So.... im not one of those conspiracy nutjobs, but i can only see things so many times before i start noticing them when they are starting.
IMO this was far more then some attempt to help promote the movie. I say this because the corporate media outlets started playing the war drums with NK. Instead of CNN spending an hour talking about how NK is in no way shape or form a threat to us, they continuously mention quotes and show missiles going off.
Its been dialed down some, so maybe it was simply a test to see how much public support they could get for going to war with NK. But it seemed to me after watching the horrible news that is CNN and Fox and MSNBC (who are nothing but vesicles for corporate america) that they were pushing for something that meant more then a simple movie. There is no reason for American's to be concerned with NK at all. I mean, if we stopped providing them with shit, they would die because SK sure as shit aint doing it and China is kind of pissed at them right now.
I mentioned how many times we've seen this because this is exactly the type of stuff we have seen with Iraq, Afghanistan, ISIS, Iran, etc.
A download for this is already out :2thumbs:
I was already to check this out when it came out until I read some posts online of people who have actually seen the movie. It seemed pretty unanimous that this movie was absolute shit and doesn't deserve the attention it's receiving.
(edit: just double checked reviews online.. it's getting half as many positive reviews as negative reviews.. though the positive ones have less to do with how good the movie actually is and instead state that it's "important" that Americans see this movie.) Eh...
(Edit 2: went for the d/l. This movie is subpar even for the bromedy genre. It's godawful.)
Personally, I enjoyed it. Pretty standard Rogen/Franco fare, which isn't a bad thing if you happen to enjoy their movies. It's not always laugh out loud funny but it had it's moments and there were was enough there to keep me amused.
The movie had potential to be pretty good, but sadly it was kind of stupid.
The "set up" and "punch" for 80% the comedy was basically "haha, he's "acting" gay" (on par with Adam Sandler garbage). It was not as bad as "a Haunted House" which was so retarded it should qualify for the special Olympics. But, its still as lazy and dumb as it gets and should have been banned for being an incompetent movie, not offensive to NK.
I personally liked the movie, which is surprising since I didn't find the trailer very funny at all. It helps if you buy into the ridiculous concept, go in with low expectations and are familiar with the style comedy that Rogan and Franco usually deliver. I actually like them and their immature style of comedy, despite how dumb it can be sometimes. All I wanted was a no-brainer flick that can keep me entertained and give me a few decent laughs along the way and that's what I got. 7/10 (but a low 7) :2thumbs:

Looks dumb to me. The fake 'controversy' just to sell it more. If I want to watch a comedy about a dictator, I'd rather see Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator. Someone called me a film snob. I like movies as diverse as Troll 2 or Plan 9 from Outer Space to classics like Rear Window. I'd rather see a movie that exposes what life is like in North Korea. This is just pointless, a waste of time.
So far I have enjoyed almost everything Rogan has done. I personally find him likable and his humor funny. Needless to say I enjoyed this. Not his best like Zak and Miri but good nonetheless.
It's only playing at the closet place one of the IMax but i might just wait until it come's closer or just download it either way i'll see it soon enough though.
Yeah, I don't get the hate online and chalk most of it up to fair weather fans and "critics" that are swayed by prevailing popular opinion, incapable of true analysis. It's the same humor as the rest of the stoner pack movies but I thought this one was higher on the list of non-Apatow films than most others. I'd put it better than This is the End but maybe not quite as good as Pineapple Express, though it doesn't have as much needless filler that even Pineapple Express has that should have been trimmed so that getting through the picture to the end wasn't such a chore. It has a better narrative flow than either of those but its funniest moments are maybe not quite as funny as those film's funniest moments. Still, it's the same stuff.
I saw it with friends/relatives and had two females with us, one of which is Asian-American, and even she laughed as much as everyone. It's a damn funny movie.
