This movie has me so pumped. I'm more excited for this than I am Avengers 3, Justice League, or Spiderman Homecoming.
Yes! Yes!! YES!!! God damn it James Gunn don't ever change!
Boss :rockin:
this first one was such a blast! I am hoping this one is just as awesome!!

how many toys will baby groot sell? hmmm
Just can't do superhero movies anymore. Give me a real Spawn live-action rated R and then maybe I'll change my mind. No offense to anyone, but GOTG just wasn't for me. I wanted to like it, just couldn't. :leave:
I am also hoping that soundtrack is just as good as the first one. :2thumbs:

Not that I am complaining butbit is pretty crazy how james gunn transitioned into a big budget director. He made two low budget films, slither and super, both didn't do very well then all of a sudden he is doing guardians of the galaxy. I am glad he didn't disappear.

That trailer was more fun than most movies I have watched.
This looks soooo good.
The jizz in my pants just jizzed their pants.
Huh, the first one completely passed me by - I guess I'll try to catch up soon. :coolbeer:
Was set trippin' wit the geek posse today at the BAM store and for a split second The Solo almost bought a talking baby Groot figure that they had plastered just about everywhere.
Be honest... would that have been choosing wisely, or merely a man card demerit? :hmmm:
I Am Groot :2thumbs:
 Vive la Groot!!
I've had a terrible week including a 4 day stay in the hospital, the installation of a feeding tube in my stomach and totaling my mustang, so my best friend took me to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2, in hopes of cheering me up.. it did.
Right now it hurts to laugh and I was hurting all the way through the movie! It was AWESOME! I loved every bit of it and 5 credit scenes? I don't think I've EVER seen that many in a movie. There are a lot of great moments and quotable lines to be found here and the action is spot on. I can't recommend checking this flick out enough. We watched it in IMAX 3D and it was worth every penny, as it is an immersive experience.
I didn't even mind that they changed Quill's parentage from that which is in comics, and normally that would bug the shit out of me.
So often Hollywood does great with the original but completely fucks up the sequel, but this was not the case here. Gunn has a vision and as long as they continue to allow him to bring that vision to the screen, I don't think fans will be dissatisfied.

Just saw it this weekend, and I have to say I'm torn but not in the way you would expect:
Is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 a great movie?
Yes, absolutely.
Is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 one of the best Marvel movies?
For sure, it's really great.
Is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 better than the first one?
I'm not sure. My GF said she liked it better and I'm right on the fence. I really loved that they didn't need to introduce the characters but jumped right into another adventure and still each character had their own story arch and growth throughout the movie. Agh, I just don't know. This movie is more consistent and has more heart...it's also a little bit more "james Gunny" in his directing style. I may just be talking myself into it. Also, without any spoilers this movie has the best villain of any Marvel movie so far. Fuck it...Guardians 2 is better than the first one, and I LOVE the first one.
I saw it a few days ago and I'd agree with being torn. The movie is awesome and I loved it, but something seemed like it was missing from the film. After much thought, I feel like there was a lack of them actually being the guardians of the galaxy. Starlord says in the beginning that Gamora has her sword and he has his guns and that they are their thing. But, we rarely get to see them be unique in this film. In the first one I felt that Drax was much more than just comedy relief. In this one I felt that he was just this hollow character that did nothing but laugh.
I feel like anyone could have played these characters this time around. I also didn't care for the pretty mediocre story (
Spoiler...Hey look my relative is actually evil
) I have seen it so many times before that it just became a chore to sit through once you kind of start realizing once it is happening. They were on Russell's planet for far too long.
But that one scene..
Spoiler...Michael Rooker killing everyone on the ship
..was brilliant.
The scene above I absolutely loved and the dialogue from the characters was really on point. The soundtrack is fantastic and Baby Groot stole the show. I just couldn't get past some problems. I do feel the need to watch it again to see if I still feel that way.
So here's the thing, the story layout and character archs are pretty much by the numbers, but they're REALLY well done. The camera work and cinematography in general are beautiful (that Rooker scene in particular). So like I said, the plot is contrived but it's a classic plot and a lot of the movie borrows from some of the best sequels of all time (Empire Strikes Back, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Star Trek 2, etc) it's just really well crafted and feels like James Gunn's movie as opposed to a movie made by committee.
The more I think about it the more I like it, i def need another watch.
Definitely
That's what I love about the first and this one. It really doesn't feel like it ties into Avengers or those films in any way. They are so good as a standalone series because it feels like a Gunn film rather than something that goes into a bigger picture.
Loved it. For me it's not as good as the first, but still an awesome sequel anyway. Loved the after credit bits as well. :2thumbs:
Yeah, like others have said, it's not as good as the first, but it's still a good movie. Though I felt they really jammed a bit too much music in this and the movie felt less like a Starlord and Guardians movie and just more about the other half of the crew, which was a little disappointing. The first I'd give a high 8/10 while this I give just a solid 7/10. Hopefully the next will feel like Guardians again.
I was kinda let down by it, it felt like all the humor and actuon was dialed up to 100, I was bored sometimes and wasn't exciting as the first. All the funniest bits were shown in the trailer. It tried to be more over the top but it didn't always work for me. Watched it last night on blu ray.
So hyped.
Disney just severed ties with James Gunn over old and "offensive" tweets..
https://deadline.com/2018/07/james-g...202430392/amp/
Feels like an over-reaction, or even misplaced aggression to me. Disney's a massive corporation; surely they and Marvel vetted Gunn before hiring him for GotG, and were aware of his history of working for and with Troma, the bad taste capital of the filmmaking world. And it's not like his GotG movies didn't have their moments of off-color humor. Though to be fair, I've not read every single Tweet Gunn ever wrote. Did he ever verbally/racially/sexually attack anyone personally, like Roseanne or Trump, or are they just angry because his humor was so un-PC?
From what I read, it was mostly un-pc. He made a couple jokes about rape and there were some 'having sex with kids' jokes. But he stated he obviously didn't act out on it and said he just has a really shitty sense of humor. Not sure how long ago these tweets are, but I'm assuming they are from a long ass time ago.
I have a really sick and fucked up sense of humor, so it's hard for me to judge the guy because I know where he's coming from. But as you said, Disney should have seen all this.
When I first seen about this I thought it was maybe backlash from the Jared Leto and under 18 comments he made a couple of months ago, seems strange Disney firing him over tweets that he wrote years ago though.
It was 10 freakin years ago and he was joking! SMFH
So a man is talking about his love life and he says "When we have sex, my girlfriend likes to role play like shes 13. I tell her this is pointless becasue she'll be 13 next year".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvrA0ydf8y8
Oh, you put it in quotes so I thought Gunn said it. I have an encyclopedia-like knowledge of the most inappropriate jokes in my head. My go to one to tell people is (this works better if you say it instead of typing, but)
What's the best part about fucking 23 year olds? There's 20 of 'em. Or why did the little girl cry twice? Because I wiped my bloody dick on her teddy bear.
The first one's and oldie but a goodie, the second ones fucked up.
