Pick up the july/august edition of horror hound, they have a great article about Giallos in there.
Nice :rocker:
Giallo's i've watched in the last few days:
Carnal Violence
The Bird With The Crystal Plumage
Twitch of the Death Nerve
Twitch... is by far the most superior. The double homocide sex impalement was great!
Yeah i'm a big By of Blood fan.
It's more of a slasher to me..
The Case of the Bloody Iris 7/10
Not the best giallo, but it was pretty good. Nekkid Edwige helps every movie :drooling:
The Fifth Cord
The Killer Must Kill Again
Both great..
Watched 'The Bird With The Crystal Plumage' a few weeks back and I didn't care for it. Most of the Giallo's I've seen have kept my interest but that one, I just wanted it to end.
Not seen many gialli, only New York Ripper, Tenebare and A Cat in the brain, they seem abit too mysoginistic and bleak for my tastes. A cat in the brain although hated by most fans of the genre has an insane amount of gore, apparently its just a compilation of clips from fulcis other films, is that correct? and Tenebrae is probably my favourite as its a reply to the american slashers that were popular at the time. I prefer the slasher flicks as they are a much more camp, less stark and brutal than gialli.
Gialli rules all, unfortunate they are to much for you.
I wouldnt say they are too much for me, and I can appreciate the artistic merit of some aspects of gialli, its more that i dont see that level of sexualized violence as entertainment
Well I think it's beyond great, but to each there own
I lovelovelove that movie. I bought it used when I was 12 (my mom didn't let us watch horror movies, but she thought it was more of a mystery and she said if it was a foreign film is would be educational...whatever, mom) and it messed with my mind. That scene where the killer is outside the apartment door and the woman is lying by the door screaming...Holy Jesus. I still love that movie. One of my favorites I recently discovered is "Seven Deaths in the Cat's Eye." Cool little flick.
Seen Sleepless last night, it was good, nice kills and great mystery, some questionable music and acting though.. the killers performance at the end though was fantastic, he was really crazy..
Also, I didn't know until I seen it was mentioned as a Giallo was a flick I bought called The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave, also a good one..
I really liked Sleepless, too. That nursery rhyme freaked me the fuck out.
Agreed on 'Bird' bl00d :coolbeer:
I too liked Sleepless a lot, I thought the killer acted like a homo though. Probably the bad dubbing :ahheh:
stelba, i finally got aorund to downloadin utorrent...recomind me some movies and send me some good torrent sites :D
www.cinemageddon.org is one I use
i havent used that site in such a long time, hopefully i can remember my login :D
I missed the screening for Mother of Tears at Monstermania, but from what I've gathered it's getting a mixed reception; has anyone here been able to see it? If so, what did you think?
I also really liked Lizard in A Woman's Skin, Florinda Balkan is stunning as always. I also loved Don't Torture a Duckling despite it's flaws. I think it was a movie that was ahead of it's time, but didn't age well.
