Looks aight.
I have become a Dwayne Johnson fanboy over the years so this is a must see for me. Very well done trailer as well, especially with the awesome use of California Dreamin'. The special effects look great too.
Never heard that version of California Dreamin' before.
Definitely a popcorn flick, but at least it doesn't seem like it'll be as shitty as 2012...
I have come to appreciate Dwayne Johnson more and more. As previously stated in this very thread I am a huge fanboy of his but that does not detract from the charisma, and personality he brings to movies and how I view them. For me a movie is instantly, at the very least watchable if he is in it. This is the very case with San Andreas.
The movie isn't good. It is highly predictable with a huge Hollywood polish on it with very impressive effects. It is 2 hours of earthquake mayhem with Johnson always saving the day and the movie as a whole. Giamatti is a waste here but my God, Alexandra Daddario... :fapper2:
I found myself enjoying this flick more than I should have and Johnson is the only reason why. The 70's disaster flicks this tries to play homage to are all better but this is better than anything Emmerich has given us. OK, Johnson isn't the only reason...Daddario is FINE...introduced in a bikini and wearing a wet t-shirt the rest of the flick...no special effects required to leave my jaw dropped.
Campy, stupid, cartoonish fun with THE ROCK making this watchable and as always being extremely likable. 6/10
Played hookey from work today and spent the day with my wife. She suggested to go see this so I saw it again, this time in IMAX. Much different presentation this way but still the same movie for me. This movie on an IMAX screen though...wow.
Now this is totally against what my wife likes. But, she LOVED it! She finds Johnson likable as well but she really gravitated to the family aspect of this flick and it actually struck home for her.
This is a good example of how easy it is to sit on that pedestal and bash a movie for being to "Hollywoodish" or "cliche" but there are people the movie will connect with and that alone makes it worthwhile. I am with my wife for 19 years and this is a first with her liking a movie such as this. I am still amazed.
Definitely a downloader from me
If I didn't catch a screening and/or my wife didn't want to see it I would not have gone to the theater. But spending the day with her and actually seeing her enjoy a movie like this for the first time ever is more important than if I liked it or not. :2thumbs:
Seeing this with my girlfriend, who will most likely be high the entire time
Just came back from this one. Fucking amazing FX. Some good performances by everyone that made it a little more than just a disaster film...BUT again....the FX were something out of this world. Loved it.
Yeah the special effects were some of the best I have seen. Movie is watchable and fun but if you replace Johnson with anyone else the movie is crap...outside of the visuals. Daddario DEFINITELY helps too :drooling:
lol....agreed
Movie is your standard disaster flick, even down to the predictable ending and forced family drama, but where it does stand out in are the effects, which are surprisingly really well done. All the disaster bits were good, while everything else was MEH. I was entertained for the most part though, so I'd give it a high 6/10 :2thumbs:
