Return of the Living Dead 3
Just watched this again last night for the first time in awhile. Over the years I was always on the fence with this film but last night I felt like it was a good movie.
Alot of people are mixed on this movie from what I see. Some people like that director Brian Yuzna tried to give this film a more serious feel compared to its predacessors along with a competent story that was much different than the other 2 films. While on the other hand, some will argue that the film was garbage, that it took itself too seriously and the charm was washed away with the attempt at making it a serious film.
I like it more and more. The ONLY real problem I still do have with it is the zombies who arent named Julie ( hotty Melinda Clarke) are rather weak as hell. The effects in the film are so-so near borderline.
Overall, I feel like this was a pretty solid effort and compared to 4 and 5 which I saw bits n pieces of on TV. ROTLD 3 was Romeo and Juliette.
There was no 'invasion' or 'zombies overrun town x' as we've seen many times before and even though it was made in 1993. It had that 80s cheese flavor to it.
Overall, im interested to see where everyone else stands on this film. For its time, it was a complete disaster, it ran with the ROTLD name but it really didnt cash in the name at all but for 1993 with the cheap budget especially noticeable with the military base. I thought it was a good movie.
It may not have been a great zombie persay but I feel like it told a good story. It ignored some of the prior rules set earlier in the series but it stayed the same in other areas. The love story carries the movie, moreover Melinda or Mindy Clarke carries the movie IMO.
It wouldnt surprise me if one day this movie like every other movie gets a facelift or remake, but somehow it wouldnt surprise me if the movie isnt called ROTLD at all.
