The hero-worship that Simone has for a pop singer is built to a crescendo until she passes out when she finally sees him up-close in a crowd of fans pushing him for autographs. She is later shocked when he lets her know that he does not love her. In an instant, she is caught "in a trance" and feels a murderous urge that is bigger than the both of them.

Just watched this about 2 weeks ago. Was pretty slow and is heavy on building this teen's obsession with R. The last act was fantastic and to be honest I think a lot of the editing could be improved with the rest of the film by knocking out some of the musical performances and just tightening it up in general. There's some nice cinematography so I'd say this is sort of a mixed bag.
Worth checking out, but mostly for the final act.

I wouldn't say this is slow at all. It really gets inside the head of the character and the direction is stylish with some excellent shots so you're never bored. The soundtrack is quite good as well.. some kind of German synth/pop that the main character is always listening to as part of her obsession. The acting is also well done, I was surprised to know that the lead actress was only 16 or 17 when she did the role. Deserves to be better known.
8/10 :2thumbs:
