Im interested for sure!
This trailer really seems to drive home the emphasis of the first movie.
The moving flickering light, the animal noises out by the lake, Mrs Voorhees dialogue from the first movie and the classic Harry Manfredini score . Still even with all that packaged together it doesnt mean much in terms of the actual movie.
Especially the music. I'll be shocked if they actually use up most of Manfredini's score from films 1 through 6, especially the first 4 scores which were all different.
It will be probably be some of Manfredini's music mixed with some heavy sounds reminiscent of the TCM movies that came out recently.
looks good im really looking forward to this
I have all of the originals on dvd except for Jason Goes To Hell. If I ever find that in a bargain bin, I'll pick it up just to complete the set.
Just the same, Friday the 13th movies were always the second best cure for insomnia. My brother and I would take turns waking each other up whenever we rented one, and it hasn't gotten any better with age.
I'm interested in the "re-imagining" just to see if this one will hold my attention.
I am dying to see this. I can't wait to see Jason back on the big screen. I like the fact this remake is different, ala Jason actually being in it.
Surprised everyone is coming all over this. I don't want to see any of you bitching about remakes, when you keep giving them money.
It doesn't look as bad as i thought it would but then again you can make anything look good in a trailer for a few mins. I just like the fact that Jason is meaner and way faster than ever or at least judging by the trailer he is.
The teaser wasn't too interesting, but I will say that the last scene shown of Jason running to kill the girl on the ground was pretty intense... making him seem scarier. But who knows what the finished product will be like, I might see it just to see Jason on the big screen as well.
I like the end of the trailer. The classic Manfredini score seems updated, more intense than in the other movies.
Say what you want about remakes, if there's any franchise that needed it it's this one. I think it'll be a good watch, maybe there was actually people with a shred of talent behind the production of the movie this time. We'll see.
Trailer looked pretty cool, just didnt like the fact jason was runnng at the end of the trailer.
I disagree, I think the running made him seem more menacing this time around. We already have a killer who walks around, Michael Myers. I guess I'm only defending this because it was the only interesting part of the trailer.
I thought Pamela Voorhees' voiceover work was decent.
The main reason I think this might be worth checking out is because I believe the Friday 13th movies have nowhere to go but up, considering the last few sequels.
Nispel is a very good director. I think it'll be good.
The original Friday the 13th would have been yet another direct-to-Drive-In film forgotten by all but the most die-hard trash cinema fans if not for the effects.
These days, we have the Saw franchise at the top and an entire dvd exploitation torture-porn industry below.
This remake can not rest solely on special effects like the first movie did. This remake can not rest solely on its name like the nine and a half sequels were able to do. This particular movie will need to be worth watching in order to really satisfy the fans.
I'm not excited about this movie in particular. I just can't see it being any worse than the originals.
There is only one remake currently unnerving me: Night of the Demons. The original was inventive in finding new ways to shock the audience -- not necessarily to scare them. Those methods can't be denied. They can't be repeated and still called "shocking" some twenty years later. Remaking that will require some finesse.
A lot depends on the source material in both cases.
I can't wait. He looks madly insane going after that chick. In fact he looks kinda hot.
When I first heard about this remake I wasn't interested at all, but after seeing the trailer I'm thinking maybe it won't be so bad. I guess now you can say I am cautiously optimistic about it.
