Slashers are my favorite sub-genre of horror.
My favorites:
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Scream
The Burning
Sleepaway Camp
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
among many more. I'm still trying to get my hands on Bay of Blood.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre,Friday the 13th,Halloween,NOEM all great!
The Prowler
Maniac
The Burning
Terror Train
Night Warning
Visiting Hours
good thread..i could talk about slasher films for hours :cooldude:
Yet that's all you post?
Maniac, The Prowler, Silent Night Deadly Night are some of my favs, involving less humor than the bulk. Fridaythe 13th Part 4 was also a fairly vicious slasher in it's own right..
Maniac is good... Madman is pretty cool, and actually has a somewhat freaky looking killer.
..are you kidding me? i can't spend 'all' my time on the boards, though i wouldn't mind it.
anywho, I've been on a real 70's-80's slasher kick lately and watched tons of movies all over again..
-april fools day (the unslashing slasher film) which i highly enjoyed, regardless who hates it.
-The slumber party massacre, in all it's cheesy glory.
-Silent Night Deadly Night (santa, can i borrow your costume?)
-Happy Birthday to me (thought it was really clever)
-The Last house on the left (thought it was completely gross, nasty, fouled up, disgusting...I loved every minute of it)-
Friday the 13th 2 (years later of first seeing this, and i'm STILL cringing at the love making scene with the arrow)
i'll add more later :thumbup3:
April Fools Day isn't a slasher n00b :dislike:
The director of the film said "It was not a genre piece, even though the studio sold it as one".
HUGE SPOILERS GIVING AWAY THE ENDING!
Except it never really happens! Plus the film makers say it isn't a slasher because low and behold it isn't, you can call it whatever you want but it is not. They say it isn't and infact no actual slashing happens, you must be too inept to realize it was all a JOKE. Whatever.
steel I'm well aware of the ending, if 98% of a movie is one thing the ending can't change it, no matter what happens...
heck if the ending can change the genre of a movie then Dead Alive would be a chick flick, Tommy Boy would be a sea adventure, and Terminator 2 is a steel recycling advert
it doesn't work that way my friend.
No doubt, he's just being a fool now..
favorite slashers...the guy from the horror show played by actor Brion James..had the awful laugh, I also liked Mitch Peleggi (spelling?) in Shocker before he went to the Xfiles, otherwise your usual..Freddy, MM,Jason,TCM,..you know usuals..:bored:
