I'll probably wait for DVD.
Yah, this is definitely my type of movie. Apocalyptic aftermath movies like The Stand and Doomsday are awesome. Definitely got to see this movie and Daybreakers soon.
wanna see the road

I would like to see proof of Denzel being racist. I think the only ref I could find was that he didn't want to be romantic with Julia Roberts in The Pelican Brief.
And from Julia Roberts herself:Quote:
The ‘Déjà Vu’ actor was cast opposite the Oscar-winning actress in ‘The Pelican Brief’ on Roberts’ own insistence, but he refused to take part in the sex scene in the original script out of loyalty to his female African-American fans.
According to Newsweek journalist Allison Samuels’ new book ‘Off the Record’, Washington said: "Black women are not often seen as objects of desire on film. And they have always been my core audience."
Washington also revealed he turned down the lead role in ‘Love Field’ with Michelle Pfeiffer because of the film’s use of the word n****r.
He said: "It was n****r this and n****r that. I wasn’t going to be one of many n****rs in a film."
Denzel on the Oscars:Quote:
The two starred together in 1993's "The Pelican Brief," and Roberts, 34, considers him "the best actor of this generation, hands down . . . I cannot absorb living in a world where I have an Oscar for Best Actress, and Denzel doesn't have one for Best Actor."
Quote:
Actor DENZEL WASHINGTON has spoken out in defense of the Academy Awards, insisting they're not racist. American evangelist Jesse Jackson has accused Hollywood of "institutional racism," but TRAINING DAY (2001) star Washington sees nothing to back the claims up. He says, "I don't put too much into that. The year I was up for Malcolm X (1992), AL PACINO won for Scent of a Woman (1992). He had been nominated eight times. If he had lost, what would he have blamed it on? I've been nominated four times and I won once, so who would Pacino blame had he lost?"
Maybe you're just not partial to strong black male character leads in movies unless they're putting stones to white women. That might also be a factor. Might want to check out some Lexington Steele flicks in that case.
On Topic: Movie looks good, I'm cised to see it, especially when I heard it would be directed by The Hughes Bros.
I'm not interested about the last Bible on the planet.
Yeah I did some research too Sutter but I didn't even bother posting about his illogical comment. I came up with nothing.
Movie looks good, but not diggin' Milla Kunis :dislike:
I'll sneak into this one after I pay to see something else.:lookaround:
I would bail on my kids during Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakle to catch Book of Eli too (if I had any kids.)
Let da wife and the brood catch the bus while Gary Oldman and Denzel play Cowboys and Indians in the future for my amusement.
got kind of a mad max feel to it. I dig that so I'll see it.
Watch the flick and every time Mila talks, say "Shut up, Meg" in your best Peter Griffon voice and everything will be fine.
Not particularly interested in someone protecting the last bible, but I'll give this a rent when it hits dvd. I like Gary Oldman and Denzel enough to give it a go.
I could go for another apocalyptic-aftermath film. This doesn't look that bad.

SPOILER:
It's not really a bible, it's a cookbook. To serve Man!!! Denzel is Blind and doesn't know it!

It wasn't bad, at least not nearly as much as many were saying. It started off a bit odd and artsy but got better. The music and atmosphere were quite good, and there was a satisfying arrangment of small action sequences throughout, along with occasional blood and gore; it was mostly a drama however. Acting was good, especially from Washington and Oldman, but was still pretty average. Mila Kunis makes good eye candy but can't act worth a dime. Overall it was a little slow but it payed off in the end with good action scenes and strong but simple story.
I read a bad review about Legion so my lady and I decided to see The Book of Eli, which was pretty decent. The film is powerful at points mixing action with some great drama and a little comedic relief. The ending is also interesting...
You know you've found a superb film when it arrests your emotions.
