Horror movie in the woods/mountains

Got one that's puzzled me for years. I don't remember seeing all of this particular film, and I think I was watching it while I was sick, so in and out of it, but it would have been from sometime in the '80s. Hikers are in the woods, maybe mountains, and they come across this shack. In the shack are like creepy old jars of stuff. Then they end up being killed one at a time of course.

There might have been a mom and son. I want to say they were crazy mountain people, wearing pelts and stuff. And at least one of the kills might have been accompanied by a big camera on wire shot, zooming down towards the victim.

I don't have much more to go on. It's fragments that I remember.

Hmmm, that might be it. I don't remember it being some kind of creature but that could be why I'm picturing such heavy pelt/furry stuff. That does seem really, really familiar. I'll have to check it out.

I definitely need to check this out. This looks like one of the more interesting films of its like back then. I wonder why it doesn't get even as much mention as something like The Bogens, etc. This looks a lot better.

I don't know... it's been several years since I last watched this movie.. I've decided to go ahead and revisit it for you, and see if it has that camera on a wire zooming down scene that you mentioned in your first post. :2thumbs:

Yeah, pretty sure it wasn't that. I don't think I'd have watched it back then if it was a bunch of old(er) people running around in the woods.

i'm sure it's not but each time i see this thread i keep thinking Bodycount - the killer was an indian shaman type but i half remember he looked a bit she & wore pelts.

LOL, I like how she slips and pulls over one of the prop plants when she runs down to the cabin. I'm pretty sure this isn't it but, wow, that has an odd mixture of production value. I'm intrigued. At the beginning it looked really like something you just wouldn't see on cable because it was just kids running around with a camera and then it looks like steadicam at one point.

Just finished re-watching The Final Terror and I'm convinced it's the movie you're talking about.. they find a cabin complete with creepy jars of nasty shit.. It was a mom and son.. the mom wears pelts... there is a swinging in cam on a wire kill shot towards the end..

im shooting for The Final Terror as well. sounds just like it
