The internet comes together to hate the film trailer for Jem and the holograms

The trailer was released to a wave of hate, I don't think I have seen a trailer this hated before I used to watch the show when my sister watched it, it had a sci fi tone and it had some action and adventure. This trailer looks so painfully generic and has next to nothing to do with the series and the internet has come together to show their hate for it. Even William Shatner let his opinions known. Lots of movie news sites and CNN even ran an article about how everyone hates it. Here is an article with a link to the trailer. The article puts it the best, if Shatner is weeping we all are

Never really watched the cartoon, but that aside the trailer looks like some stereotypical sheet

I personally never watched the original show but from what I've read in the rage fueled youtube comments, this is nowhere near the original. That's what you get for fucking with peoples childhood. Michael Bay is learning this the hard way.

I barely have memories of Jem. My older sister had some of the dolls.

This looks ultra generic. Also the idea of becoming a phony sell out from a major hollywood produced movie rings so fucking hollow.

Dump this in Hasbro's shit pile crowned with these other golden nuggets of corn: BattleShip, Transformers, Ouija and GI Joe. Make room for "My Pet Monster."

I find that boring.

Prediction. This movie won't even be the equivelent of one of those minor gas pockets you get in your lower stomach where you simply shift how you are sitting and its gone and forgotten about.

I don't remember much about Jem, what I do remember is that they're a group of girls that uses some magic/sci-fi computer to transform them into their alter egos and they play music and kick bad guys asses.


This looks nothing like that premise.

The only memories i have of this show is it being on TV, my buddies little sister having to watch it and my brother, myself, and her two brothers would collect our star wars figures and start throwing them at her while she was watching, in an attempt to get her out of the living room so we didnt have to put up with that shit while we played with stormtroopers and boba fett.

I watched Jem as a kid since it was on after G.I Joe... this is not Jem... this is some cliched, teeny bopper movie that put the gem look on the main character. As Strt said, Jem used Magic and Sci-Fi to battle baddies, and kick as.... and how can you have a trailer without her hit song... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6G_o1MYECg

This could have been a fun sci fi rock musical with elements of charlies angels action thrown in while they fight the bad guys. They didn't even put the Misfits in here
