The CGI ruins the realistic factor. Why do people add CGI into films they want to look real? :dsp:
Agree with ya on that one DM.
Being somewhat of an expert on found footage films, as they are my sub genre :)
I've just seen Eyes in the Dark, which for a microbudget movie, actually works - no CGI, just straight up tense atmosphere, with some good actors. I'm in the UK, so if you can get me a copy to review, I'll put 7 Nights into the paper I'm doing on the history of Found Footage movies that start with films like McPherson Tapes and BWP, right through to the new crop...
One day someone will really find footage that is horrible, it'll be some dude just jacking
that would be FUNNY horror porn:lol:
When I worked at Walmart, one of the bosses told us he got 20 bucks to do one in college
Yeah we used to walk around behind Him and make jerking off motions with our hands
An explination of the CGI...
Here was what I was attempting to do. Some flicks like Paranormal Activity and Blair Witch scare people with a fear of the unknown, the unseen. That doesn't do it for others. For others it's the fear of the seen. Whether it be a person or a ghostly vision or what have you. I wanted to give both audiences something to watch. Hence a CGI effect.

But it defeats the whole purpose of the "found footage subgenre". If you wanted the best of both worlds, why not create a normal movie with CGI in it? Blair Witch worked because it looked real. People got genuinely scared of that flick because it felt extremely real. Paranormal worked because it looked extremely real, but got ruined by that awful CGI ending. Found footage horror needs to look real for it to work. Not saying your movie isn't good..just adding in computer generated scary faces cuts down on the scary factor. At that point it's laughable.
doesn't cgi take away from the whole found footage? I found this footage but somone edited in CGI?
lol exactly
A nice attempt...there are of course some issues. As already mentioned the CGI was hard to accept. Make-up and dim lighting would have been a better place to go IMO. An acting coach could have helped too. Otherwise, ok. Good luck to you on your next project.
agree with the CGI in the found footage...but I do see him trying to hit "both" sides of the viewers...but again why not make it a regular flick:hmmm:
I would still give it a watch...cheers for going through all the steps of making it and marketing it though:thumbup:
thanks for joining just to promote your movie
If you're going down the cgi route - Grave Encounters is the best example of how to do it - a film that pokes fun at a certain genre of the paranormal industry - because it doesnt take itself seriously, the included CGI work....
Good luck though - kudos to anyone who can get a film made from concept right through to a successful distribution deal :2thumbs:
