I love all of them! I can't really say any of them are even that bad of movies, like yeah if you're just looking for high-class entertainment P2 and P3 are obviously more fun to watch because of how bigger they got. But I don't think entertainment is enough to hold Phantasm together, because if it was just specifically about entertainment, which I'm not against by any means, it'll only be movies worth watching once in a while rather than more often.
That's where the psychological horror stuff comes in and leaves you thinking about your own assumptions, thoughts, opinions of where the story would go. For instance, did Jody really die in the car wreck? Was Reggie really trapped in a time loop? Is everyone who was supposedly killed really killed? Is what the Tall Man doing really evil or is he trying to save us? What is the red planet? Do we become dwarfs? Or do we become sentinels? Is the Lady in Lavender the Tall Man's loving wife as he remembers her using her to lure in his victims as she lured him into her love? When Morningside found a way to go into different dimensions, was his other self The Tall Man there waiting for him to kill him and to take over the world? Is there more than one Tall Man? Is Mike going to become the new Tall Man?
The best thing about all the Phantasm movies is that they have no rules, anything could happen! And I love movies that are like that and to have consistency to each story, as opposed to other movies doing whatever in such lazy ways without leaving much visual to think about it.
So in all honesty even if I could number best to least of these films, there's no way i could keep that as it is because of how much I love this franchise, and even without just my love for this franchise it speaks for itself even if it may not be clear, but it's good because it keeps up with the mystery of it and that's what makes it so scary is because you don't know what will happen.
Sure, P4 was a let down, but it was under budget and you have to give Don serious props for making it formidable for a story and definitely has some entertainment value and I love how it keeps up with Reggie's character being gullible and throwing himself to any hot babe that comes his way only to find out they're the Tall Man's minions.
Boyyyyy am I happy to hear this!
The trailer gave me a happy feeling in my ball sack.
This turned into a SyFy movie at the 43 second mark :2far:
WTF?
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTT!!!! I'm super excited for this!!! EVERY LITTLE TEASE IS LIKE A GOLD MINE OF AWESOME!!! BRING ON PHANTASM 5!!!!
It's going to be glorious. :shifty: :tallman:
I'm concerned that nothing will be wrapped up from Oblivion and this will be a random mess of terrible looking CGI. Plus, all the films had a serious tone to it, despite minor glimpses of comedy here and there, and I feel that they are going a really goofy route this time. I'm very cautious, but at the same time excited to hopefully see this series get wrapped.
I really hope that they're able to somehow make it not look so bad, that the reason it's not coming out for a while is because they're going to put the time into making it better. Coscarelli doesn't really have, and never had, much of an eye or design sense though. Good taste in cars and some cool ideas but he's not capable of anything approaching sophisticated visuals. Shifting to the role of executive producer means he's able to work with a director that's (hopefully) more gifted than he in this department but I don't see any evidence of this. Unfortunately. Hopefully they can prove me wrong but that teaser made me depressed, not excited.
A giant sentinel sphere blowing up buildings...that alone makes it awesome.
Thanks to Toby for spotting this, but there appears to be some sort of leaked extended trailer out in various Russian sites. It first appeared mid-August, but was only recently discovered. Here's an embed:

You know..I wasn't too sure on that new trailer, but after seeing the leaked one Fright posted above..I'm all for it. Looks like so much fun

CHILLS!!!!
Don Coscarelli said the movie isn't coming out until next year. Angus Scrimm is currently going through pneumonia, and from what I hear the distribution and stuff seems like it's all locked down and ready to go but Don wants to shoot more footage, which I believe to be more footage with Angus Scrimm that could possibly lead into...BUM, BUM, BUM...PHANTASM 6...but that's just a rumor.
Anyways, he says 2016 is the year for Phantasm: RaVager.
Looks great! Thats what I call a trailer.
Well, it's official! Reggie Bannister says they have final cut, the film is all finished and ready to be released!
http://phantasmarchives.blogspot.com...-finished.html
Quote:
The biggest news bomb dropped in the podcast is public confirmation that Phantasm Ravager is complete! In his own words, Reggie tells the podcast, "We've got final cut." He also mentions that while the film is finished, he has not yet seen the completed version but expects a distributor to pick it up soon. The weird thing is that Reggie references the upcoming Anaheim WonderCon in his interview, which took place back in April of this year. That places this interview as occurring in March of this year, meaning Phantasm Ravager has been in the can for that long!
This should help to dispel any nagging rumors that the filmmakers haven't finished the effects or have gone back for reshoots. Hooray!!!
:hmmm:
does anyone have a link to the recent leaked trailer at all?
